Suggested Topics
With a proposed emphasis on comparative studies and policy aspects of urban shrinkage, suggested topics include:
Policy responses, urban governance, and planning approaches
Public services and infrastructure right-sizing
Urban vacancy patterns and related policy responses
Urban impacts of demographic transition (ageing and low fertility) and corresponding policy responses
Shrinking cities and transformations of urban systems
A comparative framework that helps develop collaborative research in the Pacific Asia
Identity management in shrinking cities and regions
Other relevant topics are also welcome. Papers focusing on emerging cases of urban shrinkage are especially encouraged.
The seminar will feature oral presentation. If the number of submissions were more than we can handle, we may be required to do a poster presentation.
