My artwork is my personal perspective of my living room from the worktable where I now spend most of my day's drawing, listening to music and working on the computer. The new lifestyle of having to stay at home has made me more aware of the objects that surround me, in particular the chairs: which portray personalities of their own, hence why I've choose to colour them differently: chairs (turquoise), cushion & shoes (green), laptop & tables (black) and other books & objects (blue).

Having assignments does not make you crazy at home. Thank god for my "Happy pills". The falling water by Frank Lloyd Wright means the nature integrated with a building could develop emotional strength for the occupant. However, for ordinary people like me having good food and great acquaintance is what I need the most. "Happiness" is what everyone's goal but it is the person's choice of how to create it weather through materialistic approach or contentment through gratitude. For me, contentment comes from kindness. A personal bowl of noodles is nice but sharing it will be nicer.

Covid-19 has closed shops and businesses,

Because people didn’t listen to the rules,

There’s nowhere to go and no one to see,

All we could see is Covid-19 roaming free,

Travelling all over the globe,

As it targets the world to be human free.

Looking out the window,

But our vision’s blurred,

Past’s, present’s, future’s all unclear,

Let’s remain calm and believe."

This is San Fransokyo from “Big Hero 6” filmed in the year 2014, a hybrid city combined of San Francisco and Tokyo set in the not-too-distant future. Years before I started enrolled in architecture studies, I watched this movie and I was fascinated by the creative idea of combining Japanese and American architecture, landscaping and engineering skills creating the city's iconic amalgamation of American and Japanese culture portrayed in the movie. During the MCO period, I rewatched this movie and it reminded me of a lot of old times before I studied architecture and how I got into it…

TINGGAL DI RUMAH adalah merupakan pilihan terbaik bagi kita semua untuk memutuskan rangkaian wabak virus COVID-19. Banyak manfaat yang kita dapat bila tinggal di rumah bersama KELUARGA. Pada Bulan Ramadhan kali ini saya dapat lebih banyak luangkan masa bersama KELUARGA. Contohnya, Bersahur bersama, Berbuka Puasa bersama, Terawikh bersama dan sebagainya. Saya menerjemahkan lukisan ini, Apabila kita duduk di rumah banyak manfaat yang kita dapat, Terutamanya bila waktu makan bersama kita boleh rapatkan lagi hubungan kita sesama KELUARGA. Perspektif dua titik pandangan mata burung adalah pilihan saya untuk menunjukkan harmoni yang ada apabila waktu berbuka puasa di dalam rumah.

A little line alone is a series of sketches done throughout my sketchbooks starting from my first semester back in 2016 until my final semester (current). My thoughts and conceptual ideas were derived through layers and layers of lines that had gone through the sketchbooks. These sketches were all done using Artline as they've always been my favourite, especially the 200 0.4 pen. I thought maybe why not touch up the same sketches to give it a new life!

Kampung Cina is a playground for locals here. It is one of the main attraction here in this city and its have a lot to offer. From a small food stall to a big cafe, colourful murals and a lot more attractions can be found here. Although it is a place for chinese people, but the locals including malay and indians usually hangout here, just to enjoy the hustle and bustle of this small town.

Every single person is fighting a battle during this pandemic and while home might be the safest place to be for some, there are people who might think otherwise. Seeing this situation from a fifteen year-old perspective, having to share a room with her elder sister for the first time has been nothing but a blessing in disguise. Always by her table, working late nights, almost never asleep, she understood her career was her sister’s battle. Sure its dense for a studio-cum-bedroom space, but she continues thinking, atleast we have each other to keep company.

Currently, everyone around the world get affected by pandemic Covid-19. This will cause everyone’s movement limited but ideas. Due to this limitation, artist/designer/architect have to work from home. As well as myself, an architecture student. Everything must be done online or at home. So I get the ideas to redraw a Ulun Danu Beratan Temple in Bali, Indonesia since I love to draw the details in temple. Artline’s ink does not water-proof, I intentionally mix with watercolor so that drawing will have a rustic/ old effect on it. Anyway, Bali also is on the list place that I will visit soon! Thank you.

RMO SKETCH-TRAPY

Due to the Restrict Movement Order (RMO), We had been limited our movement to travel nor move one place to another, feel lonely, uncertainties and hopeless, but by sketching a perspective architectural drawing, it’s a therapy that help us to feel free from those restriction, fast forward time and maintain our sanity. Draw another beautiful building also a therapy that help us to accept that we tried our best in moving forth not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually through the drawing process. Moreover it’s a satisfaction to see when the process and work/drawing is done which can help ease our anxiety.

My happy pills version 2.0 is a composition of my contentment through this MCO period. "Happiness" is what everyone's goal but it is the person's choice of how to create it weather through materialistic approach or contentment through gratitude. The sketch illustrates my cats with lovely flowers at the background showing how nature's roles develop our emotional strength despite having architecture medium which is The Orange Cube, France by Jakob + Macfarlane. A bowl of noodles indicates the contentment through good food, just enough; not overload.

"""The Sun does not realise how wonderful it is until after a room is made."" A quote from Louis Kahn inspires me to imagine a space with sun kisses and shadow arts. The Sun is a very great artist, but we need to prepare a canvas, that's when Architecture kicks in.

I chose a space of a staircase, which is a transition between spaces of different levels. A sky well was let in casting shadows on the walls, filtered by beams. The Sun light highlights depths, textures and details of the space, making it the best art of nature.

Skyline is a post-covid concept. The concept is an airborne individual roller coaster concept. After the endemic has settled, transportation has changed to this concept where people social distance through this method, and this method ensures everybody who gets on have a 3m gap between the people on the skyhook in front of them. Thus ensuring social distancing in public.

As the world is slowly reopening, easing lockdown measures, everyone seems to be adapting to new realities. Imposing drastic adjustment to our lives, Covid-19 has introduce a brand new 'normal', changing our perceptions and altering our priorities. Congratulations and thanks not only to the frontliners but the people should also be commended for their community's compliance with the Movement Control Order (MCO) in helping the government reduce the incidence of COVID-19 in the community.

At a time when whole Malaysia is united in the experience of battling against the COVID-19 pandemic, we are physically separated while digitally connected. We were asked to stay at home and forced to overcome the physical separation from our loved ones to breakdown the transmission link of COVID-19. In the same time, we keep ourselves updated with the latest news on the outbreak of COVID-19. How does this impact the way we live as a whole? This sketch portraits as a way of better understanding on our roles and relationship to one another.

Besides what we see, sanitisation and hygiene are not the only things that keep us safe during this pandemic. The frontliners also play a crucial role in fighting this virus, hence the need to support them as well as follow the rules set. This sketch visually and creatively describes what our lives would be like with the protection of both the frontliners and us as citizens abiding the law; we are able inhabit a clean and preserved environment, that is not only safe but is also a benefactor to combat Covid-19.

In my artwork, I want to show two side a society can become in this pandemic. The left side shows how the country's economy is put as a priority and people not applying social distancing because of the lack of awareness and regulation. The right side shows when people care about each other and healthcare is of prime concern. The family on the upper right corner shows a closer bond between family member when they stay at home and spend quality time together.

The artwork is to show how to prevent from spreading the viruses around the country. Start at right part of artwork which is represent the viruses itself that originally from Wuhan, China. By locking down (mask) an assembly place such as mosque and airport will avoid from human mass gathering and stopping the visitors to carry the viruses from other country. The flock of birds flying to left shown that we shall be back at the places where it is safe for our families (home). The flower at throat that grows up from the books at chest is to convince the people to be more positive and productive during pandemic by staying at home.

The sketch potrays the exact situation of the Covid 19 pandemic. This Covid-19 pandemic has thought as us that being a frontliner is one of the most needed service for the world. Frontliners are fighting and sacrificing their life to bring down this pandemic. Those sacrifices and hardwork needs to be respected. The ideation starts when I opened my gallery’s photo was at Pekan Bangi Lama. MCO just makes me realize that I was surrounded by buildings that had fascinated me for most of my life. I attracted to make an illustration about ‘’mixed- use’’ building and saw it richness of the city. This illustration implements the tangible elements of surrounding of ‘’rumah kedai Pak Ayob’’ that are packed with details and to show us the reality of all ‘’rumah kedai’’ in this country that we were never thought to think about. In order them to serve the nation with basic needs like foods to society, Pak Ayob risking his lives as long as can sustain his family.

The more important, ''rumah kedai'' is a significant contributor to our life, one that strongly helps the society realize its social and economic imperatives. But there is something about the simple shop house, in all multiplicity and ambiguity that comprises the layered depth of life.

In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, human is forced to limit their movement in the public and practice social distancing. It is the new norm. Through perspective of architecture, how the building will cope with this situation; through rules and regulation, and the criteria of a living space. As seen through this sketch, will our heritage building such as the old shophouses cope with the demand of healthy living space. Maybe through sketches and pictures can help public to walk though the memory lane of the heritage building which many stories lie beneath it.

The title given for my artwork is 'Space' in which our room can be depicted as our own 'space' where ideas and inspirations may be generated. In this 'space', we could discover many possibilities by doing various of activities based on our interests such as painting, playing musical instruments or reading books which can be seen in this artwork. From the window, we can see a moon that portrays we can do so much that could be 'out of this world'. As an architecture student, I love to immerse in my own 'space' to explore more of myself.

Covid-19 has imprisoned us all. We stay inside for the greater good. Extroverts can feel imprisoned the most, as they spend mostly outdoors. The camera represents the "vision" of the extrovert, and the screen display is their perspective. There is always an easy way out. Walk through the linear hallway, and go outside through the door. But Covid-19 is waiting for you, behind the bars that represent the wall. The bars are the only thing that protect us after all. We are all in this together, stay home and stay safe.

Instead of sketching in 2D, 3D sketch makes it livelier, and works better for sense of perspective.

The subject matter of ''Sketch at Home'' inspire me to sketch a space/perspective that I can directly view within my home. I spend most of my time in my bedroom during the MCO so I turn my bedroom into a base that I can learn in fully satisfied and comfortable. I call this space a base rather than a studio because it is not only a space for study and work but also space for me to rest and entertain. I named my base as ''Calm'' because I enjoy the peace and concentrate in my world.
