Meet Ray Rainbow

Hi, I’m Rachel Margaret Anderson, but you may know me as Ray Rainbow, the face behind Party Monsters!

My journey into children’s entertainment started when I was just 17 years old, working as a balloon twister. I loved creating colourful balloon animals and, most of all, I loved seeing the smiles they brought to people’s faces.

Even back then, I always wanted to give face painting a go.

Eventually, friends started asking me to face paint at their events. I gave it a go, but I’ll be honest, I wasn’t particularly impressed with my own work! 

I invested in a proper professional face painting kit, started practising, and slowly watched my skills grow.

In 2010, I finally started face painting professionally. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work at all sorts of events and venues, from birthday parties and community events to shopping centres and larger corporate celebrations, my favourites being working at the Sky Tower in Auckland and Premier House in Wellington.

I also took on the behind-the-scenes side of things. I started doing bookings administration. I managed the calendars of entertainers such as clowns, magicians, pirates, fairies and balloon twisters. Organising schedules, working with clients and making sure all the details came together.

Face painting is about the excitement of becoming a favourite character, animal, superhero or magical creature for the day. I love seeing each child’s face light up when they see their finished design!

With years of experience and a genuine love of what I do, I bring a fun, friendly and creative energy to every event.
