To make everything easier, we had the party catered. Coast2Coast Catering & Events did just an amazing job. All the food was so delicious and Gerard was so flexible in working with me to continue our concept through the table settings. It was really a wonderful experience and if you are in north Georgia, I would highly recommend them.
Gerard and I worked together on the tables. He provided our beautiful flowers: white hydrangeas and red roses in a modern glass vase. Since I am no whiz with flowers, I love what he did. I selected the white linens, then added gold chargers, my own collection of red Spode dinner plates and my red glass salad plates. (You also saw the red plates in my Wizard of Oz party.)

Welcome back to my blog, fellow prospective students! As a refresher, I am Antnio, a '25 from Brazil, and a big fan of parties. As some of you may have heard about, Dartmouth is known for its prominent party culture. When applying to colleges last year, many of my friends who came to school in the US warned me about how intense weekends at the Big Green can be. As someone who particularly enjoys that aspect of college life, I was really excited to arrive to Hanover and start going out with my newly made friends.
Usually, I go out twice in the weekends. Once on Friday and once on Saturday. In one of these days, I usually go out "fratting," going house by house until my friends and I find somewhere with music we like. On the other day, we typically get together at the senior apartment of one of our friends, where we throw our own party and have fun on our own. Although intimidating at first sight, partying at Dartmouth is really fun. Once you find your group of people and the spaces you like, you are most likely to have fun all of your weekends here :)!

But as my second year rolls on here in college, I still find myself with no real answers to give these people because I frankly do not know how the party life is. I tried testing the waters a few nights, I indulged my friends and went out with them to share some experiences.
I quickly rejected the party scene and picked up a routine that I enjoy in my room. It consists of a group of close friends, good music and creativity. One of my first options came to me by inspiration that my brother gave me. He explained to me his college experiences and how he would break into academic buildings after hours and play manhunt with his friends.
I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
You have taught me that you don't always have to strong. You are allowed to break down as long as you pick yourself back up and keep moving forward. When life had you at your worst moments, you allowed your friends to be there for you and to help you. You let them in and they helped pick you up. Even in your darkest hour you showed so much strength. I know that you don't believe in yourself as much as you should but you are unbelievably strong and capable of anything you set your mind to.
You inspire me to be the best version of myself. I look up to you. I feel that more people should strive to have the strength and passion that you exemplify in everyday life.You may be stubborn at points but when you really need help you let others in, which shows strength in itself. I have never been more proud to know someone and to call someone my role model. You have taught me so many things and I want to thank you. Thank you for inspiring me in life. Thank you for making me want to be a better person.
Life is full of surprises. So what if you didn't get into the class you wanted? Your life obviously has something else in store for you. It's your job to make sure you make the best out of what you have.
Whether you want to just hang out and float or go walk around on a beach, you know the best spots. These often have to be based on the people you're with, given that some "party coves" can get a little too crazy for little kids on board. I still have vivid memories from when I was six that scared me when I saw the things drunk girls would do for beads.
One of the many nice things about the life at the lake is that everybody cares about everything a little less. Rolling up to the place wearing only your swimsuit, a cover-up, and flip flops, you fit right in. After a long day when you're sunburned, a little buzzed, and hungry, you're served without any hesitation.
No party (or lunch time) is complete without yummy Chick-fil-A. To stress less and have more fun we used the Chick-fil-A catering option. They have a full menu of items to choose from including party trays with your favorites (nuggets!), boxed lunches and even their yummy lemonade by the gallon. We had nuggets for the kids, and I saw a few adults with them too. A fruit tray for a healthy option and a delicious chilled grilled chicken sub sandwich tray that is only available through their catering menu. Everything was hot and ready at pick up time and with true Chick-fil-A service it was all carried to my car for me.
Still being emotionally attached to our high-school identities might explain why freshman parties feel like a big deal right now. Yildirim mentioned the pressure of moving into a different phase of life for many first-years.
Although we may never (at least, I truly hope not) see the entire class partying together, we may still form meaningful connections over our feelings of bewilderment and FOMO, or our processes of adaptation and progress. As the frat ban and freshman fall approach their respective ends, it is time to take our hopes of class connection out of the Fayesment once and for all.
You only need one or two establishing shots that show the whole group. The audience will continue believing that you're in a room full of people after you show it to them once. For the establishing shot(s), you can shoot the same people, wearing different clothes & accessories, in front of a green screen. Make sure the lighting and the height of the camera will match with the lighting and camera height in your party setting. When shooting the group in front of the green screen, position them closer to the camera. Then shoot the same people again in the actual party setting, farther from the camera. In post-production, layer the green screen footage of the people over the actual party setting, and it will give the impression of twice as many people. You can also do 2 "layers" of green screen footage, with the same actors 5-10 feet farther away from the camera, in front of the green screen (and wearing different clothes, hats, glasses, wigs, etc.).
For the rest of the scene, you can use medium and close-up shots. Include people on the edges of the shot, and passing through the shot, and behind the main actors, to make the audience feel as though there's a whole party going on outside the frame they're looking at.
In each of those rooms, the party-goers are disguised. They're wearing different costumes, wigs, hats and glasses. Some are on high heels; some are squatting to appear shorter. The camera only catches the sides of faces and the backs of heads, so no full faces are recognizable from shot to shot. And in each room, the audio is layered to sound like there are 4 times as many people in the room.
Alternatively, if you can keep a tight shot (ie head and shoulders of one or two foreground individuals) you can use your other cast members in the back/foreground - as layers. As long as you don't stray outside that area, you should be able to imply a few layers of party goers.
Little did I know, that of all of the Greek islands, Mykonos is famed for incredible beaches but especially for the world-renowned party scene and HUGE crowds all summer long. If I were to relate my experience in Mykonos to anything, it would be that of a raging good time in Vegas.
Psarou Beach was one of the most luxurious and calm beaches I went to. I really loved it here because it is a bit further away from downtown Mykonos and you get a break from all of the crazy party beaches.
The famous Tropicana Beach Bar takes this beach to the next level! I must admit I had a big (some might say huge) evening here. The party starts well before the sun sets and things really take off after sunset.
My friends and I would get ready and dressed up to go out on a Friday, only to be rejected from every party we tried to enter. At the end of the night, all we had done was walk around in circles while we passed white students having their quintessential, picture-perfect college night out.
There is nothing better than a theme party to bring the kid out of you and your friends. Starting with a theme gives you some creative direction when planning your party. My most recent party was all about FONDUE! The fondue theme branched out into a full on seventies theme that included everything from Pet Rocks to Amaretto Sours (homemade of course). My good friend Emily and I came up with retro hors d'oevres and dressed in our best attempt at 70s attire. Fondue became the means for facilitating each of our three dinner courses: cheese, broth, and a caramel dessert. And at the end of the night we sent our friends on their way with some delicious trail mix. I even found vintage tupperware online that we used to package the gift. What better way to hit the trails than with trail mix?!
