A predictable minor disruption can sometimes unpredictably escalate to a major catastrophic disruption. This is because small cascading effects of several seemingly unrelated snags in daily operations typically pile up. I analyze an important incident that made the headlines: the flight disruptions at the New Delhi airport between January 14th and 17th, 2024. I experienced this disturbance first-hand, and this makes for a pretty interesting case for why investing in improved daily operations is important to manage disruptions.
