The aim of this project was to design and develop an energy monitor that may be used in a smart house to measure and display the amount of energy consumed by appliances, thereby enabling better management and utilization of renewable energy.
Developed a 'paper' design of the analogue circuitry and then validated the design using LTSpice simulations.
Designed and developed an embedded software program that implements the energy monitoring functionality using the inputs derived from their analogue circuitry (ie, voltage and current signals).
After characterizing the design performance using Proteus to develop a prototype, Altium Designer was utilized to design a PCB.
Successful in producing an accurate reading of the Power, Energy, Voltage (rms) and Current (peak) of an appliance with an accuracy of 93% - 100% every refresh rate.
