Frequently Asked Questions

If I registered for a parking permit for a previous semester, will that permit carry over to this semester?

No. You must sign up for a new permit each semester.

Once I have applied for a permit, do I need to come pick up a sticker for my car?

Yes, you do need to pick up a sticker at the Institute and display it on your vehicle's rear window, lower left-hand corner.

All monitoring is done electronically by UVU Parking Enforcement. To avoid an automatic ticket, UVU Parking Enforcement requires that your license plate and sticker be visible from the parking lot aisle. (Don't back your vehicle into the parking stall, or pull through.)

Can I register more than one vehicle on my parking permit?

Yes! You can have two vehicles registered under your parking permit, but only one vehicle may be in the parking lot at a time.

I currently have a temporary license plate. What do I put for the plate number?

List the temporary license permit number, located under the date. When your permanent plates arrive, come to the parking office, or call us at (801) 764-3000 with your permanent license plate number and we will update your vehicle information.

I’m borrowing a car for a few days, how do I change the plate on my permit temporarily?

Visit the parking office with the license plate number and vehicle information. We do not offer a temporary tag, so you will need to register the vehicle and place a sticker in the rear window, just as you did for your usual vehicle.

Does the Institute Parking Permit allow me to park anywhere on campus?

No. You can park in any of the three Institute parking lots displayed in green, on the map above. However, after 5:00 pm parking is free to the public in the Institute lots, as well as any of the UVU student parking lots.

What if my vehicle is damaged or vandalized?

We certainly hope this would never happen. If it does, Utah Valley Institute is not responsible for damage to your car or its contents.

My attendance dropped below 75% and my parking permit was revoked. Can I have my parking reinstated?

Once parking is revoked, it cannot be reinstated for the rest of the current semester. We welcome you and hope that you will continue to attend your institute class as often as possible. We hope that you will be able to join us more often next semester and invite you to register for parking again at that time. Note that there are other 'free' parking options offered by UVU. Visit their website for more information.
