Understanding Self- Awareness
Understanding Self- Awareness
Think about becoming more self-aware when it comes to your emotions. In order for us to deal with our emotions we have to understand what makes us feel that way and how it actually feels.
Can you think of a time that you felt Joy? When was that? Describe what joy felt like to you? Can you think of a time when you felt anger? What made you angry? Name two to three ways your body felt when you were angry. Can you think of a time when you felt surprised? Describe what feeling surprised felt like.
Controlling Your Emotions
Self-Management is the ability to successfully regulate your thoughts, behaviors, and emotions. Watch the video below and then answer the reflection questions: Why do you think Rebecca was becoming upset? What would you do if you heard a group of people spreading rumors about your friend? What are some effective ways Rebecca can control her emotions?
Being Socially Aware During Remote Learning
Social awareness involves recognizing and understanding the emotions of others and how those emotions can influence social situations. It also involves taking the perspective of others (putting ourself in someone else's shoes) and using our ability to read and understand social situations and social cues. During remote learning, the setting is different (a google meet vs. being in a classroom), but there are still expectations around what behavior will look like in this situation. Please watch the video below about Tom and his classmates and think about the following reflection questions.....Do you think Mike and Jeff understand how their behavior is making their teacher feel? Explain. How do you think their behavior is making their teacher feel? What do you think Mike and Jeff's classmates are thinking and feeling? Share your answers below.
