About

I am Yongzheng (Parker) Li, a political science researcher and higher education professional based in Vancouver, Canada. I completed my Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in October 2026, with formal degree conferral expected in late November 2026.

My academic research focuses on public perceptions of China's international economic engagement, particularly in Africa. My broader research interests include China–Africa relations, Western responses to China's growing engagement with the Global South, and the evolving dynamics of international economic cooperation and the clean energy transition.

I have experience in policy consulting, data analysis, and applied research across various policy areas, including Canadian municipal governance, Canada's Indo-Pacific Strategy, and China's Belt and Road Initiative.

I have taught political science courses at UBC and Langara College, covering topics such as political research methods, Chinese politics, and international relations. Most recently, I taught POLI 110 (Investigating Politics: An Introduction to Scientific Political Analysis) at UBC in Summer 2026.

In addition to my academic and teaching experience, I currently serve as an Exam Coordinator at UBC's Centre for Accessibility, supporting the administration and delivery of accessible examinations across the university.

My professional interests span research, public policy, data analysis, and higher education administration.
