There are no library classes for the month of June. As part-time employees, we use the two weeks in June to complete end of the year tasks to close out our libraries. If your child has any overdue books, please return them at this time to avoid overdue book fees.
Third Graders have a special library program.
For some lessons, they will follow standard library lessons such as (1) library skills (2) shelving knowledge (3) learning the database (4) celebrating heritage months (5) steam design challenges.
For other lessons, they will expand on their Social Studies curriculum in our library program.
The librarian and the 3rd grade teacher will work together to plan and deliver engaging social studies lessons that build knowledge and support literacy. The 3rd grade teacher will introduce core social studies topics in the classroom. Ms. Acker will reinforce these lessons by selecting high-quality books, multimedia resources, and research activities that match the curriculum. By sharing ideas, coordinating schedules and integrating literacy there will be a more meaningful learning experience for all students.
