All materials and components are produced through specific manufacturing processes. The mechanical behavior of materials is primarily determined by microstructural characteristics, which, in turn, are governed by manufacturing processes, commonly referred to as the process–microstructure–mechanical property (PMP) relationship. As new manufacturing technologies emerge and advance, developing high-fidelity computational models capable of accurately simulating these processes and predicting the resulting microstructure and mechanical properties will enable the design of optimal microstructures to achieve targeted properties and the optimization of process parameters to obtain them.
