Ignite is a melodic hardcore band from Orange County, California. Formed in 1993, their commercial breakthrough album, A Place Called Home, was released in 2000 on TVT Records. Prior to this release, they were well regarded among hardcore fans, thanks in part to constant touring and having visited over 40 countries.

IE: From the accounts I have read the songs on the new Ignite album were pretty much done and written when you hopped on board. I don't know if that included the lyrics being done as wellwhen you joined. Outside of laying down some excellent vocals on the album can you give us some insight as to what other stamps you left on this new release?

In some way, that song kind of encapsulates the theme and tone of Exile in Guyville, which, since its release on June 22, 1993, has become one of the greatest albums of all time. Viewed as an answer to the Rolling Stones' 1972 double album Exile on Main St., Guyville remains a critically acclaimed and pioneering work in addressing the patriarchy, sexuality and sexism with frankness. Simultaneously, Phair's minimalist and intimate approach to the music paved the way for future generations of female indie musicians including Soccer Mommy, Snail Mail, boygenius, Frankie Cosmos and Blondshell (more about her later in this article).

Ignite, billed as a melodic hardcore band, are back on the music scene in a big way. Their new self-titled album introduces to listeners their new lead singer, Eli Santana, and they are celebrating by heading out on the road in the United States. They stop Thursday, May 12 at the Debonair Music Hall in Teaneck, New Jersey, for a headlining gig with support from Silence Equals Death, Rest Assured? and Bullet Brigade.

This weekend, feel born again as Black Veil Brides welcomes their all-new album, The Phantom Tomorrow. In celebration of their latest release, hear the band join Octane (Ch. 37) for an exclusive acoustic set on the SXM App as well as an interview between Shannon Gunz and Andy Biersack.

Fusing their love for '80s DC-styled hardcore with their California punk roots, Winds of Promise write and perform the kind of tunes that have equal amounts of melody and grit. The band will be releasing their self-titled debut album this fall and I'm happy to bring you the first taste of the collection in the form of "Worn," the record's second cut.

"So, in the spirit of all that we wrote 'Worn,' which to us is basically about growing old, finding comfort in your own skin, and then from there forging a path forward. The line 'There are no answers only choices' is also probably my favorite on the whole album."

I spent a few hours earlier this year with Winds of Promise as they tracked their album and the stuff was sounding killer, but listening to it now in its finalized version I can tell you that if you're into bands like Rites of Spring and Soul Side, you'll be very pleased.

Country newcomer Chase Rice is readying his new full-length album, set to impact later this summer. It's not just any day that the singer will celebrate this milestone in his career; the release date is also his late father's birthday.

Rice's album 'Ignite the Night' -- which features Gold-certified 'Ready Set Roll' -- will be released on Aug. 19, and the singer admits that the serendipitous date is deeply meaningful to him.

Rice's forthcoming album holds 15 tracks, 12 of which he co-wrote, with four additional songs on the iTunes edition (and three co-writing credits). Florida Georgia Line's Brian Kelley is listed as a co-writer for several of the record's songs, while Tyler Hubbard, helped out on 'Whoa.' To pre-order 'Ignite the Night,' click here.
