The Pardeeville Lions Club loves to recycle! Here's a few of the ways we recycle.
WisDOT’s Adopt-A-Highway program keeps roughly 11,800 miles of state, federal and interstate highways in Wisconsin clean by generous volunteers. The Pardeeville Lions club is responsible for removing trash, recyclables and litter from a section of Highway 33 every Spring and Fall. Interested in helping to clean up our local highway? Please see us at an event found on our Calendar, Join or Contact Us to see how you can help.
As part of the Lions Recycle for Sight Program "Usable Glasses Give New Life." Our club collects usable eyeglasses, cell phones and hearing aids from the following locations and sends them to a Lions Recycling Center for processing. There the items are sorted, processed and placed in inventory for distribution to missions around the world. Lions help to minimize landfill waste by supporting precious metal reclamation and scrap processing for damaged items that are unusable. Would you like to help? Plastic bag and plastic film recycling within our small community has kept thousands of pounds of material out of our landfills. This is not a small task. We have help from our Lions, Angie W. Cox Public Library, Pardeeville USPS, Pardeeville Kwik Trip, Pardeeville Piggly Wiggly, Pardeeville High School (each April) and NexTrex.
Multiple times a week our Lions collect material from the community. It is then sorted and prepared every Sunday. Once sorted, it is weighed and details submitted to NexTrex. Our Lions once again deliver the sorted bags to Pardeeville Piggly Wiggly multiple times per week where it is then picked up and delivered to NexTrex.
NexTrex supplies a Trex bench for every 1,000 pounds of material collected in a 12-month period. The Pardeeville Lions Club has several benches around the community and more on the way! Click here to download a printable list of acceptable materials. Remember ALL items should be clean, dry and free of organic waste. We also have a list of unacceptable materials here.
