A company called Pitch Catalyst gave an assignment to me regarding the landing page redesign of their website. Pitch Catalyst deals in creating interactive pitch decks for SMBs and SMEs, giving them a professional setting to boost their pitch in a professional environment. I followed the brand guide of the company and used the color palette provided by them, while utilising fonts myself because nothing was informed regarding the typeface used.Â
Problem Statement: How might we design a website which is responsive and loads up fast, while maintaining the essence of the company?
Issues Encountered: The website was too animation heavy, with the loading time taking up to 10-12 seconds. Over-complicated animations were used and the scroll navigation was rigid, resulting in some sections vanishing from sight.
My Approach: I used a minimalist setting with keeping animations simple and making sure that the site is not heavy overall; while keeping it fully accessible and optimised.
Usage of cards was also implemented, segregating the data in an organised manner. I also utilised isometric illustrations in the design, which felt consistent throughout the page and looked visually aesthetic.
I recreated certain elements on their existing website and recolored & beautified them. Those elements included charts, slides, graphs, cards and carousels. The animations were kept to a minimum in such a way that the site doesn't feel too static and the impact gets delivered too.
Some textual sections were changed in a way that I provided image backgrounds with a blurring overlay, so the copy gets highlighted and delivers the message it was intended to.
For testimonials, I used the approach that keeps the background elements blurred, while the foreground card was the focused element for the user. In this way, the elements in the foreground were visible and highlighted.
The Outcome: The clients were really impressed with my styling of their website. The redesign was fast in terms of loading without the extra, lanky animations and clutter was removed; keeping the site consistent and visually appealing.
