Our environment influences our senses extensively. The very essence of design exists naturally in so many ways which can never be mentioned in a finite list. Many of the greatest art and design pieces ever to exist have been made possible because of the fact that their makers had a keen eye and sense of observation of their environments.
Environmental graphics and art pieces make an incredibly huge difference in terms of distinguishing grand places from the bland spaces. I have also worked upon countless design projects which involved wall art and environmental design. Have a look at some of the works that I've made or contributed to.
I was approached by the mechanical engineering faculty of my college to make wall art for the club of our department back in 2019. The goal was to paint a 3m x 4m art piece regarding a legendary machine in terms of speed and innovation. The very first thing that popped up in my mind was the classic car AC Cobra which was built in 1962 by AC Cars and Carroll Shelby. It packed 427 horsepower V8 engine.
The paints used were distemper and acrylics.
I also painted a 1m x 1m logo of Shelby Motors using acrylics.
The final product:
I was also involved in a team to make other environmental elements for the same club. A Make In India insignia was designed on plywood and painted gears of different sizes and grooves were bolted on the wood piece. My objective was to draw the insignia on the medium and apply gears on it.
I also painted the entrance art for the club. After a brainstorming session with the faculty, we decided to paint a lathe machine with polygon art.
Some other elements were also made for the club. The signboard was designed using mechanical tools arranged in a formation of the word 'torque'. The clock was also designed by spray painted gear grooves on a plywood piece.
