I participated in Mercor.ai's UX hackathon, where I took on the challenge of extending the capabilities of their existing chatbot. The objectives included implementing new features like bubble chats, customizable backgrounds, multimodal support, and exploring additional functionalities to enhance the user experience. This case study highlights the design and development process I undertook as an individual.
Background: Mercor.ai's chatbot required improvements to provide users with a more engaging and versatile communication experience. The hackathon aimed to address these challenges and offer innovative solutions.
1. Bubble Chats:
I introduced bubble chats, providing visual separation for each message in the conversation.
Bubbles were color-coded for easy identification of user and bot messages
2. Customizable Backgrounds:
Users could select or upload images to serve as the chat screen's background.
I designed a user-friendly interface to allow for easy customization, similar to popular social media platforms.
3. Multimodal Support:
I added buttons and options to the chat interface for users to input audio files, images, and documents.
Live microphone recording was integrated, and speech-to-text transcription was performed in real-time on the backend.
