ParaLens is developed by James Sarrano. This Privacy Policy explains how the ParaLens mobile application accesses, uses, stores, and shares information.
1. Overview
ParaLens is a paranormal investigation and field-documentation application. It can record camera media, audio, location context, device-sensor readings, investigator notes, evidence markers, and case reports.
ParaLens does not claim to prove paranormal activity and must not be used as a safety, emergency, medical, electrical, gas, or environmental-hazard detector.
ParaLens does not currently require a user account. Investigation records and evidence are primarily stored locally on the user’s device.
2. Camera, Photos, and Video
ParaLens may request access to the device camera to:
• Take investigation photographs
• Record video evidence
• Capture site-reference photographs
• Use Night Vision and Echo Vision visual-processing tools
• Display augmented-reality Evidence Anchors
• Capture room and anchor-reference images
• Support future experimental visual-mapping tools
Photos and videos created through ParaLens are stored locally on the device unless the user deliberately exports or shares them.
Echo Vision creates digitally processed visualizations from camera images. These visualizations are not genuine thermal or infrared imagery and do not automatically identify paranormal activity. ParaLens may preserve both an original camera image and a processed image for comparison.
3. Microphone and Audio
ParaLens may request microphone access to:
• Record EVP audio
• Record audio with video evidence
• Listen for investigator questions or dictated notes
• Support speech-recognition features
• Record or reconstruct supported investigation sessions
Audio recordings and related session information are stored locally on the device unless the user deliberately shares or exports them.
When speech recognition is used, audio or speech information may be processed by the speech-recognition service installed on the device. Depending on the user’s device and settings, this may involve a service provided by Google or another device-service provider. Processing by that provider is governed by the provider’s own privacy terms.
ParaLens does not use the microphone continuously in the background.
4. Location Information
ParaLens may request approximate and precise location access while the app is in use.
Location information may be used to:
• Identify or confirm an investigation site
• Suggest an address or nearby named place
• Store location context with an investigation or evidence record
• Record latitude, longitude, and estimated GPS accuracy
• Help organize return visits and case documentation
ParaLens does not currently collect background location information.
Location information saved with an investigation remains stored locally on the device unless the user deliberately exports or shares the related case information.
5. Device Sensors
ParaLens may access available device sensors, including the magnetometer, accelerometer, and gyroscope.
Sensor information may be used to:
• Display magnetic-field readings
• Establish an environmental baseline
• Record changes selected by the investigator
• Detect device movement
• Determine direction or heading
• Support calibration and visual tools
Sensor readings may be saved as part of a local investigation record. These readings can be affected by the device, nearby electronics, wiring, magnets, metal, movement, and environmental conditions.
6. Investigator-Created Information
Users may create or save information including:
• Investigation names and site descriptions
• Typed or dictated notes
• Questions and comments
• Evidence titles and annotations
• Room or area names
• Evidence Anchor information
• Timeline events
• Case summaries and reports
This information is stored locally on the user’s device unless the user deliberately shares or exports it.
Users should avoid recording or sharing personal information about other people without permission.
7. Device Diagnostics and Beta Feedback
The Beta Feedback feature may generate device and app diagnostics, such as:
• ParaLens version and build number
• Device manufacturer and model
• Device type
• Operating-system version and Android API level
• Memory and CPU architecture
• Screen resolution and pixel density
• Available device storage
• Permission status
• Sensor availability
• Speech-recognition availability
• Local-storage test status
These diagnostics are generated on the device to help investigate technical problems.
A feedback report is not automatically transmitted to the developer. The user must deliberately open the device sharing menu and choose where to send it.
The feedback report does not automatically attach exact GPS coordinates, investigation notes, dictated questions, recordings, photographs, videos, or saved evidence.
8. Local Storage
ParaLens may store the following locally:
• Case files
• Evidence records
• Photos and videos
• Audio recordings
• Notes
• Sensor readings
• Evidence Anchor records and captures
• Training and acknowledgement status
• Equipment selections
• Application settings
• Feedback drafts
• Exported PDF reports
Local information may become unavailable when:
• The user deletes the information
• Application data is cleared
• The application is uninstalled
• A saved file is removed by the user, operating system, or another application
• The device is lost, damaged, reset, or replaced
ParaLens does not currently provide cloud backup or cross-device synchronization.
9. Sharing and Exporting
ParaLens allows users to deliberately share or export certain information through the device sharing system, including:
• PDF case reports
• Beta feedback reports
• Selected media or evidence
• Other investigator-created records
ParaLens does not control what happens to information after the user sends it to another application, cloud provider, email service, messaging service, recipient, or storage location. The privacy practices of those third parties apply after the information is shared.
10. Data Collection, Advertising, and Sale
ParaLens does not currently:
• Sell personal information
• Rent personal information
• Use personal information for behavioral advertising
• Include third-party advertising
• Create advertising profiles
• Require an online ParaLens account
• Automatically upload investigation evidence to a ParaLens server
Google Play and the user’s device operating system may independently process information related to downloading, installing, updating, securing, and operating applications under their own privacy policies.
11. Data Retention and Deletion
Because ParaLens primarily stores information locally, information remains on the device until the user deletes it, clears application data, removes the related files, or uninstalls the application.
There is currently no ParaLens online account or server-based account information to delete.
Users should review and export any evidence they wish to preserve before uninstalling ParaLens or clearing application data.

12. Security
ParaLens uses the device’s application storage and operating-system protections to help prevent unrelated applications from directly accessing locally stored application data.
No storage or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure. Users are responsible for protecting access to their devices and for choosing secure recipients and services when sharing evidence or reports.
13. Permissions
ParaLens only requests supported permissions for features that require them. Users may deny or revoke permissions through Android settings.
Some ParaLens features may not function when a required permission is denied.
14. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated as ParaLens features, data practices, or legal requirements change.
The effective date at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made. Users should review this page periodically.
