PRODUCTION NOTES: Eye of Ballet
Experimentation & Concept Eye of Ballet began as a playful experiment—a creative fusion of stock footage, generated dialogue, and a deep fascination with the world of ballet. While browsing through myriad stock videos, I found myself irresistibly drawn to ballet imagery. It was specifically, the closeup shots dancers' slippers in these clips sparked an idea: why not weld together disparate pieces of stock footage and digitally generated dialogue to form a loose, conceptual narrative centered on the art of ballet? This newfound passion sparked the idea of welding together existing visual clips and adding computer-generated dialogue to form a narrative, however loose or abstract it might become.
The Process & Early Experimentation At a time when I was still in Junior High, my technologies teacher, Dan Britton, encouraged me to explore my budding creative instincts. At the time, I was in Junior High, and under the friendly encouragement of my technologies teacher, Dan Britton, I began experimenting with WeVideo. His suggestion to explore this unconventional medium encouraged me to push beyond traditional formats. I dove into the world of video editing, piecing together various ballet fragments with dialogue generated to mimic a storyline. The result was a series of loosely connected videos—a mosaic of imagery and sound that hints at a narrative without ever fully solidifying into one. The intent wasn’t to create a full-fledged feature—rather, it was an invitation to see what a conceptual narrative might look like when built entirely from available media resources.
It’s important to note that Eye of Ballet was never intended to be a fully polished film. Rather, it stands as an evolving experiment. The project exists as a series of clips and sketches, with plans to eventually stitch these fragments together to create a concept preview. However, in its current form, it remains an unfinished experiment—more a playground of ideas than a complete cinematic work.
If anyone finds inspiration in this experimental approach and the raw potential of the footage, you are more than welcome to take the reins. Feel free to adapt, expand, and transform the story into a more refined, fairytale-esque film. Eye of Ballet is an open invitation for collaborative creativity—a starting point meant to spark further artistic innovation.
Eye of Ballet remains a creative exploration—a raw, experimental journey into the possibilities of combining stock footage with digitally generated dialogue. It is an invitation to both imagine and collaborate on what could become an enchanting narrative, should the inspiration arise to take it further.
