para.chi.paris'24
16–17 May 2024 | Paris, France | in-person
We invite HCI researchers working in France and neighboring countries to join us for a two-day mini-conference around CHI'24 as part of the para.chi initiative. Our goal is to create a space to discuss the latest works accepted in CHI, to foster new ideas and future collaborations, and to explore the future of hybrid conferences. Our program will include CHI’24 keynotes, presentations of accepted CHI papers from researchers attending the mini-conference, and discussions on a variety of topics. The event will be in person at the Inria Paris research Center. The default language of this event is English.
Some of the motivations for participating in this event include: the #whychi movement and the geopolitical implications of holding the conference in Hawaii, the desire to reduce the carbon footprint of air travel and scientific conferences, and the interest in supporting stronger local interactions.
Registration
The event is free. We will provide snacks for the breaks but lunch will not be provided.
Registration is open and mandatory as Inria requires a complete list of attendees a week before the event.
The deadline for registration is on 9 May 2024.
We have a maximum capacity of 60 participants, if you registered and changed your mind or cannot make it, let us know ! Holding a seat will block other people from attending.

Topic discussion sessions
This format proposes participants to curate, present, and discuss a selection of papers from CHI'24 that revolve around a common theme of interest (for example 2 to 5 papers). These sessions aim to provide an overview of a topic and stimulate discussions among attendees. Each presenter will have 30 minutes for their topic, which can, for example, be divided into a 5 to 10-minute presentation, followed by a 20 to 25-minute discussion with the other participants. Examples of topics: "Privacy and boundaries", " Data Visualization and Literacy"...
