Introduction
Papyros is a secure messaging application designed to protect your privacy. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Fundamental principle: We believe your conversations are private. That's why we use end-to-end encryption (E2E) to protect your messages.
Information We Collect
Account Information: Apple ID (via "Sign in with Apple") - we only receive your name if you choose to share it and a unique identifier. Email only if you choose to share it.
Messages and Content: End-to-end encrypted (E2E) with AES-256-GCM. Not even we can read your messages.
Technical Information: Device identifier for push notifications. Error logs only in development mode.
Optional Information: Contacts (if you grant permission), Location (when you choose to share), Camera and Microphone (during calls or when sending media).
How We Use Your Information
We use your information exclusively for:
Authentication and account creation (Apple ID)
Message delivery (E2E encrypted)
Sending alerts about new messages (notification token)
Finding friends who use Papyros (optional contacts)
We DO NOT:
Display advertising
Sell your information to third parties
Track or profile users
Conduct behavioral analysis
Encryption and Security
All your messages are encrypted on your device before being sent using P-256 ECDH for key exchange and AES-256-GCM for message encryption. Only you and the recipient can decrypt them. Private keys never leave your device.
Third-Party Services
We use Apple CloudKit for syncing encrypted messages and Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) for notifications. Notifications do not contain message content.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
Access your personal information
Delete your account and all associated data
Export your data
Revoke permissions at any time from iOS Settings
Data Retention
Messages are retained until you delete them or your account. Account data is retained until you delete your account.
Minors
Papyros is not intended for children under 13 years of age. If you are a parent who believes your child has provided information, contact us.
