Q. Is there a scene in the play that you like the most? Please share it along with the reason. 

A. My favorite scene is when Dongjae and Seojin meet in the shoe shop and “review” the past for the first time. It’s not just about choosing shoes I think one of the biggest charms of the play is how, through that process, they project their respective futures and life choices into the conversation. In life, everyone at some point reflects on their decisions and future by comparing them to something else, and I felt this is a moment many people can relate to. The unique excitement of their first meeting, which takes place in the past, felt very thrilling to me. It almost felt like I had gone back to the time when I first started my acting career and was struggling with many difficult decisions, which allowed me to immerse myself more deeply in the scene and truly relate to it. 

Q. If there’s a line of Seojin’s in the play that you relate to the most, please introduce it and explain why. 

A. I really love the shoe store scene. In that scene, there’s a line where Seojin repeats something Dongjae once said in the past, “Leather shoes are supposed to feel a little uncomfortable.” In life, there are times when we give up on something simply because it feels uncomfortable at the moment or doesn’t seem to suit us. As I’ve walked the path of becoming an actor, whenever I struggled with doubts, I found myself thinking, “Maybe someone would have given me advice like this.” That thought made the line resonate deeply with me. Above all, in the play, this line is the decisive moment that shakes Dongjae’s heart the most, which is why it feels especially meaningful to me. 

Q. If you could go back to the rehearsals for the play Secret Passage what episode would you choose to revisit? 

A. Personally, there’s an episode that I still feel a bit regretful about. During the rehearsal period, all the actors went to the sea together, almost like a bonding retreat (MT), but unfortunately I couldn’t attend because of my schedule. Afterward, Seungho, Seonggyu, and the others talked about how much fun they had surfing in the late autumn, and I was really envious. It’s probably too cold to go now, but if I could go back to that time, I’d love to be there with the Secret Passage cast. That page of the past is blank for me, and if I had the chance, I’d want to “revisit” it this time by being together with the cast. 

Q. Like the books that appear in the play Secret Passage, what kind of last sentence would be written in the book of your life? Is there a sentence you’d like it to end with? 

A. I hope it would say, “I lived diligently and fiercely, and that’s why I was happy.” I’d like to add, “It was a life without regrets,” but honestly, I don’t think a life without any regrets really exists. Still, if the last line of my book could be something like, “Until the very end, Kim Seonho lived happily as an actor and as a person, and then departed through the Secret Passage” I couldn’t ask for anything more. 

Q. The play <Secret Passage> can be seen as a work that makes us reflect on meaningful connections. Is there a “precious connection” in your life that you find most unforgettable? 

A. For me, it’s definitely the fans. When someone passes by on set and quietly says, “I’m a fan,” those few words give me tremendous strength. Especially when many people overseas called out my name, a wave of different emotions came over me. It made me feel deeply grateful for having the profession of being an actor, and it reminded me once again that my connection with fans is a major pillar that supports my life and the driving force that allows me to stand firmly as an actor.
