Passionate mathematician, teacher and philomat, I am currently Rita Levi Montalcini Tenure-Track Assistant Professor (RTDb) at the Dipartimento di Matematica "Giuseppe Peano" of the Università degli Studi di Torino.
My research interests lie in the field of categorical algebra, an area between category theory and abstract algebra. The core of my research activity up to now has regarded Hopf algebras and related structures, such as (Hopf) bialgebroids and quasi(-Hopf) bialgebras, and their representations. However, I am also interested in the study of partial (co)representations of groups and Hopf algebras and in the recent development of trusses (algebraic structures interpolating between braces and rings) and their representation theory.
I was born in Ceva (Italy) on the 24th of March, 1989.
I am happily married with Ilaria Robattino since the 3rd of June, 2023.
Professionally, I am a mathematician with a strong expertise in algebra and category theory and a lively passion for active research and teaching.
Along my career I wrote 26 research papers and delivered about 50 public presentations, 22 of which as talks at international conferences and 11 of these as invited speaker.
Since October 2025, I am a Rita Levi Montalcini Fellow at the Department of Mathematics of the Università di Torino. The "Rita Levi Montalcini" program is a highly competitive and prestigious grant awarded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research to support promising researchers returning or coming to Italy to develop independent research projects.
Before returning to Italy, I have been Investigador Doctor at the Department of Algebra of the Universidad de Sevilla, within the framework of the EMERGIA program of the Junta de Andalucía, a selective initiative designed to attract researchers with an excellent track record.
Prior to my time in Spain, I spent seven years at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) in Belgium. From May 2018 to September 2019, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the team of Joost Vercruysse. I then joined the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique – FNRS, first as Collaborateur scientifique (2019–2020), and later as Chargé de recherches (2020–2023). From October 2024 to April 2025, I was Assistant intérimaire (postdoc) and Maître d’enseignement at ULB. Since October 2023, I have also held the position of Collaborateur scientifique in the Department of Mathematics of the ULB.
I obtained my PhD in Mathematics with honors in March 2018 at the Department of Mathematics "G. Peano" of the Università degli Studi di Torino, under the supervision of Alessandro Ardizzoni and Laiachi El Kaoutit.
