Pantry Guard ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Android application, Pantry Guard (the "App"), handles your information.
By using Pantry Guard, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Summary (Privacy First Approach)
100% Offline & Local: Pantry Guard operates entirely on your device.
No Data Collection: We do not collect, transmit, track, store on remote servers, or share any personal information or usage data.
No Account Required: You can use the App without creating an account or providing any personal details.
No Third-Party Analytics or Ads: The App does not contain third-party SDKs, tracking software, analytics, or advertising frameworks.
2. Information Handled on Your Device
A. User-Entered Data
When you use Pantry Guard, you may input food inventory information, including:
Item names, categories, quantities, and measurement units
Purchase dates, expiration dates, prices, and notes
Item status (Active, Used, or Wasted)
App preferences (such as notification timing and currency symbol)
How it is stored: All of this information is saved locally on your device using an encrypted or sandboxed local Room database and local preferences. This data never leaves your device and is never uploaded to any cloud server or third party.
B. Device Permissions
Pantry Guard requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function:
Notifications (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): On Android 13 (API level 33) and higher, the App asks for permission to send you local notifications. These alerts are scheduled locally on your device to remind you when food items are approaching their expiration date. Notifications are generated entirely offline by the Android Operating System's local WorkManager/AlarmManager.
3. Third-Party Services & Data Sharing
Because Pantry Guard does not connect to the internet or use external servers:
We do not share, sell, rent, or trade any data with third parties.
We do not use third-party tools such as Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, or advertising networks.
4. Data Security & Storage
All data created in Pantry Guard is protected by standard Android OS application sandboxing, meaning other applications on your device cannot access Pantry Guard’s data.
Because we do not maintain cloud servers or databases, we cannot access, view, or restore your data if your device is lost or damaged.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Control over your data: You have full control over your stored information at all times.
In-App Deletion: You can delete individual pantry items within the App or clear all application data permanently by navigating to Settings → Clear All Data.
App Uninstall: Uninstalling Pantry Guard from your Android device will permanently delete all stored pantry items, statistics, and settings.
6. Children's Privacy
Pantry Guard is a general audience food and kitchen organization application. It does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Since no data is collected, children can safely use the App without privacy concerns.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. Any updates will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
