I have a color calibration problem with an 8560N Printer and my Win10 Laptop, where Pantone colors printed from the 8560N "Pantone Colors Pages" do not match the printed OEM Pantone Solid Uncoated Formula Guide. The 8560N printer has printed about 7,000 color pages since first installed in 2009 and the majority of use is via a TCP/IP v4 network address.

Even though the 8560 Printer sticks came from sealed Xerox packs, does the composition of the Color sticks change with time & would this affect the output colors? I have tried putting in new color sticks with no color change...

Should I use "PrintFix" software to suggest/create a custom ICC profile for the printer? It seems to me that I will have to create a new and custom ICC profile for the 8650N Postscript driver to compensate for color shifts. Pantone use to make a Software Kit named PrintFix that would allow Users to print a color sheet on a printer, read the printed sheet into a color photospectromer that is part of the Kit, and then enable/create a custom ICC profile that could be installed for permanent changes. I am not interested in using Xerox FreeFlow software because this 8560N printer is only used occasionally as a general office color printer.

I am working with a new client who will be printing my artwork on handbags. They want me to "specify the Pantone color codes for the artwork". Is there a way to get a list of the PMS codes in a piece of art in Photoshop? If so, how do I do that? Or do I have to bring it into Illustrator?

Are you looking for Save colors as swatches or similar command from Illustrator? If I can understand your question correctly then the answer is no, Photoshop does not offer such option nor I know about plugin/script which can do same or similar job for you.

Pantone Plus modernize the way Adobe applications use spot colors from color book manufacturers. Adobe Illustrator, along with InDesign and Photoshop, uses the Pantone Plus Series of color books. Pantone Plus includes the PMS colors, replacing the earlier Pantone Matching System.

Process and global color swatches are related to the document color mode. Changing the document color mode from CMYK to RGB converts the process or global colors. Changing the document color mode back again is a second conversion, not a return to the original color.

Color system manufacturers create standardized colors for communicating color information across apps and processes. These standardized color libraries are called color books. The filename extension of these color books is .acb.

Spot colors in the Pantone Plus Series use Lab values. There are no CMYK definitions for spot colors in the Pantone Plus Series. Therefore, to add Pantone Plus spot colors to your document swatches, define spot colors using Lab values.

To define spot colors using Lab values, choose Spot Colors from the Swatches panel (Window > Swatches), select Use Lab values specified by the book manufacturer, then click OK.
