Set of detailed instructions for experiment
Chronological Order
Use exact numbers or values
Make sure it is easily readable
Other scientists should be able to reproduce your experiment from it
be specific and clear with labels
Testing requirements ensure the reliability, validity, and replicability of research findings, validating the methodology and increasing the credibility of results.
Example: Does water help plants grow?
Replication:
Implement at least 5-10 trials of your experiment to ensure findings are accurate
Have 10 plants total, give 5 water and give the other 5 no water
Control Groups:
Establish clear control group with no external variables & factors to compare findings
Give half of your plants no water at all to compare results
Variables:
Only test 1 variable at a time ensuring significant correlation between the variable and findings
The plants with no water should be kept in the same conditions as the plants with water to ensure that no other factors affect growth
Standardization:
Ensure procedure is standardized for all tests
Repeat the exact same steps (such as when the plants were watered) and conditions (where the plants were kept) for all trials
Data & Precision:
Data should be as precise as possible and must be recorded accurately
Record growth every single day to the the nearest hundredths place
