This Privacy Policy explains how the Philosopher Chat mobile application (“App”) handles information when you use our services. It applies to the App provided by the developer (“we,” “us,” or “our”).
We do not require an account to use the App.
Your chat history is stored on your device.
When you send a message, text is sent over the internet to AI service providers so a reply can be generated.
We do not sell your personal information.
Messages you type in chat rooms
Optional display name you enter in Settings
Room titles, selected Thinkers, and conversation history you create in the App
Chat rooms and messages (saved locally in app storage)
Settings such as display name and interface language preference
A daily token-usage counter used to enforce usage limits
When you request a reply, we send your message (and prior messages in that conversation needed for context) to third-party AI API providers (currently including DeepSeek or successors we configure) to generate assistant text. Those providers process data according to their own policies.
We do not require your email, phone number, or government ID to use the App.
We do not use the App for advertising tracking in the sense of cross-app ad profiles.
We use information to:
Operate chat features and display conversation history
Generate AI replies through third-party APIs
Enforce daily usage limits and prevent abuse
Improve reliability and security of the App
Depending on your region, we rely on:
Performance of the service you request (providing chat replies)
Legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, product operation)
Your consent where required (for example, where law mandates consent for certain processing)
We share information only as needed to run the App:
With AI API providers to process your messages and return replies
With infrastructure providers that host networking or future backend services we operate
When required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect rights and safety
We do not sell personal information.
Servers used by us or our providers may be located outside your country. By using the App, you understand that your information may be processed in jurisdictions with different data-protection laws.
On-device chat data remains until you delete it within the App (if supported), uninstall the App, or clear app data.
Usage counters reset according to in-app rules (for example, at local midnight).
Data held by third-party AI providers is retained according to their policies; we do not control their retention schedules.
We use reasonable technical measures appropriate to the App’s scope. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Do not submit highly sensitive personal data in chat messages.
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing of your information. Because most data is stored on your device, uninstalling the App or clearing its data may delete local chat history. For requests regarding data processed by third parties, you may also need to contact those providers.
The App depends on third-party AI services. Their privacy practices are described in their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies when available.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version in the App. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
