If you want a premium, all-around wireless experience with stable connectivity and call clarity for gaming or daily life, choose Panasonic True; if you need a dedicated underwater device that plays music without a phone while keeping your ears open to the pool environment, choose Opinta Swimming Headphones.
• Panasonic True: Delivers high-fidelity audio, reliable Bluetooth in crowded spaces, and exceptional battery efficiency, but it is only IPX4 rated and cannot be used submerged.
• Opinta Swimming Headphones: Offers true IPX8 waterproofing and bone conduction for safe, hands-free swimming with built-in storage, but lacks deep bass and passive noise isolation.
• Best For: The Panasonic pick is for gamers and commuters who demand stability and sound quality; the Opinta pick is for athletes who swim regularly and need to hear their surroundings.
The Panasonic RZ-S300W True Wireless Earbuds are engineered for people who refuse to compromise on connection stability or audio fidelity during intense activities. These earbuds utilize precision Japanese engineering, leveraging massive amounts of 3D ear data to create a fit that is both compact and lightweight. This isn't just about comfort; it is about ensuring the dynamic drivers perform exactly as intended. If you are looking for a memory foam ear cushion style experience—though these come with five silicone sizes (XS, S, M, L, XL)—you will find the fit secure enough to handle vigorous movement without falling out.
For the serious gamer, the reliability of the connection is paramount. Many wireless headsets struggle in environments filled with signal interference, but the Panasonic design features an optimized antenna structure and an independent left-right signaling system. This means that even in a crowded room or a busy living space, your audio stream won't drop, and the left and right channels won't become unbalanced. The dual touch sensor controls allow you to manage volume, tracks, and calls instantly, which is critical when you are deep in a match and don't want to fumble with a phone. The inclusion of high-performance MEMS microphones in a unique labyrinth cabinet structure ensures that your voice cuts through background noise during team chats, suppressing wind noise effectively.

However, this product is not for everyone. Its IPX4 rating protects against sweat and splashes, making it excellent for running or gym sessions, but it is strictly not designed for submersion. If you plan to wear these while swimming, they will fail immediately. Furthermore, the lack of active noise cancellation means you are relying on the physical seal of the ear tips to block out ambient sound. If you require total silence to focus, or if you need a device that can function fully underwater without a smartphone tether, this is the wrong tool for the job. It is best suited for those who prioritize audio integrity and seamless connectivity over rugged durability in extreme water conditions.
The Opinta X7 Pro is a specialized piece of hardware built for one primary purpose: swimming. Unlike standard earbuds, these utilize bone conduction technology with an open-ear design. This allows you to enjoy your music while maintaining full awareness of your surroundings, a safety feature that is non-negotiable for anyone training in open water or a busy public pool. You can comfortably pair them with a swimming cap and goggles, and because they do not sit inside the ear canal, there is no risk of pressure buildup or discomfort from long-term submersion. The IPX8 professional water resistance rating confirms that these are built to withstand being fully underwater without any worry of water ingress damaging the electronics.
What truly sets this apart for the aquatic athlete is the 32GB internal memory. Most swimmers have to carry a waterproof phone case or a separate MP3 player to listen to music while in the pool. The Opinta eliminates this hassle entirely. You can store up to 8,000 tracks directly on the device, supporting formats like MP3, WAV, WMA, M4A, and FLAC. When you dive in, you simply switch to MP3 mode, as Bluetooth signals cannot transmit through water. This independence from a mobile phone is liberating, allowing you to leave your locker empty and jump straight into the water. The magnetic charging design also simplifies the routine, eliminating the frustration of plugging and unplugging small connectors after every wet session.
The trade-off here is audio fidelity. Because the sound travels through your cheekbones rather than vibrating the eardrum, you will not get the deep, thumping bass that a traditional driver provides. The open-ear design naturally lets in ambient noise, so you cannot isolate yourself from the world. While the built-in microphone helps with calls, the primary use case is clearly for solo workouts where hearing the pool deck is part of the safety protocol. This is not a device for audiophiles seeking immersive soundscapes or for gamers needing surround sound. It is a functional, durable tool for athletes who need to stay connected to their playlist while staying aware of their environment, specifically underwater.
• Best for underwater use → Opinta Swimming Headphones (IPX8 rating and bone conduction).
• Best for crowded Wi-Fi/Bluetooth environments → Panasonic True (Independent signaling prevents dropouts).
• Best for battery longevity per charge cycle → Panasonic True (7.5 hours continuous playback vs. 8 hours for Opinta, plus 22.5 extra hours in the cradle).
• Best for standalone music without a phone → Opinta Swimming Headphones (32GB internal storage holds thousands of tracks).
• Best for call clarity in wind → Panasonic True (MEMS microphones in a labyrinth structure suppress wind noise).
• Best for situational awareness → Opinta Swimming Headphones (Open-ear design keeps ears open to surroundings).
• Best for bass response and immersion → Panasonic True (Dynamic drivers provide fuller frequency range perception).
• Best for sweat resistance during heavy cardio → Both are capable, but Panasonic offers a more secure in-ear seal for high-intensity movement.
I would buy the Panasonic True for my personal setup, primarily because I treat my headphones as a versatile tool for gaming and general use where sound quality and connection stability are the top priorities. In my opinion, the ability to rely on a consistent Bluetooth link without dropouts, combined with the superior microphone performance for clear communication, makes it the far more valuable investment for a multi-use lifestyle. However, if my sole goal was to swim laps without carrying a phone, I would immediately switch to the Opinta. For a dedicated gaming setup where you are sitting still or moving lightly, the Panasonic is the superior choice for its balance of comfort, battery life, and audio performance.
No. The Panasonic True Wireless Earbuds are rated IPX4, which protects against sweat and splashes, but they are not designed to be submerged in water. Attempting to swim with them will damage the device.
No. The Opinta headphones come with 32GB of built-in memory, allowing you to store up to 8,000 tracks directly on the device. You must switch to MP3 mode when underwater since Bluetooth does not work below the surface.
The Panasonic True offers slightly longer individual bud usage at 7.5 hours, and the charging cradle adds another 22.5 hours for a total of 30 hours. The Opinta provides 8 hours of continuous playback on a single charge, which is sufficient for most workouts but requires more frequent charging for extended travel.
The Panasonic True is excellent for gaming due to its low latency Bluetooth connection and clear microphone for voice chat. The Opinta is generally not recommended for gaming as the open-ear design lacks sound isolation and the bass response is limited compared to in-ear drivers.
