If you want a lightweight, clip-on wired option for gaming, choose Panasonic Rp-hs46e-k; if you need open-ear headphones for a child, choose Mehomeli Kid Headphones. The Panasonic’s on-ear hooks and 30 mm drivers make it the more straightforward pick for long gaming sessions, while the Mehomeli’s open-ear design and foldable build suit school and portable use.
• Panasonic Rp-hs46e-k: A slim on-ear clip design, 30 mm drivers, and a stated 20 Hz–20 kHz frequency range; its trade-off is a wired 3.5 mm connection and no open-ear design.
• Mehomeli Kid Headphones: An open-ear fit, lightweight construction, and foldable design; its trade-off is a smaller 16.2 mm driver and no listed noise-control feature.
• Choose Panasonic if you want earphones with an ear hook and larger drivers for gaming or other wired listening.
• Choose Mehomeli if you want a child-oriented, open-ear wired option that can fold for carrying.
• Both use a 3.5 mm jack, so the device needs a compatible headphone connection.
The Panasonic Rp-hs46e-k is a wired, on-ear clip-on earphone with a slim 9.9 mm housing and a 30 mm dynamic driver. Its ergonomic ear hook is designed to help hold each earpiece in place, while the stated 20 Hz–20 kHz frequency range covers the range listed for the Mehomeli as well. At 16 g, it is the lighter of these two options according to the listed item weights.
For gaming, that combination makes the Panasonic the more compelling fit if you prefer a simple wired connection and do not want an earbud that sits inside the ear canal. The 3.5 mm jack can suit compatible consoles and other devices, and the on-ear clip design keeps the earpiece positioned at the ear. It is also a practical shape to consider for TV, travel, or exercise listening when an over-ear headset feels like more than you need. The listed 108 dB sensitivity and 20-ohm impedance are useful specification details, but they do not by themselves guarantee a particular sound character or volume on every device.
The trade-off is that this is still a wired product: movement is limited by the connecting cord, and a device without a 3.5 mm jack may require a suitable adapter. The data does not list a microphone, so I would not choose it on the assumption that it provides a built-in voice-chat solution. The listed noise-control field says active noise cancellation, but there is no further detail explaining how it works; buyers who need a clearly specified isolation setup should not infer more than that label provides.
How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.
Who should skip it: Skip the Panasonic if you specifically want open-ear headphones, a foldable frame, or a documented microphone for gaming chat.
The Mehomeli Kid Headphones are wired, open-ear headphones designed for children. Their 16.2 mm dynamic drivers have a stated frequency range of 20 Hz–20,000 Hz. The open-ear shape is the defining difference from the Panasonic’s on-ear clips: it offers a different way of wearing the headphones, rather than placing the earpiece in the ear canal or using an ear hook around the ear. The product information describes an acoustic design intended to direct sound toward the ears.
Mehomeli lists the headphones for children ages 3–16 and names devices such as Chromebooks, tablets, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, iPads, and smartphones with a 3.5 mm jack. That makes them a reasonable option for a child moving between school listening and wired entertainment, provided the device has a compatible connection. The listed weight is about 20 g, and the foldable design is intended to make the headphones easier to store or carry in a backpack. Their nylon and titanium construction is also specified, though the data does not establish how they will hold up under rough handling.
The main compromise is that Mehomeli does not list a noise-control feature. Open-ear headphones are not the choice I would make for someone who wants to block surrounding sounds during a game or concentrate in a noisy room. The driver is also smaller than Panasonic’s, though driver size alone cannot establish which pair sounds better.
Who should skip them: Skip the Mehomeli if your priority is a clip-on fit, listed noise control, or a headphone setup intended to shut out distractions.
• Best for a clip-on on-ear fit → Panasonic Rp-hs46e-k. Its ergonomic hooks are designed to secure the earpieces around the ears.
• Best for an open-ear design → Mehomeli Kid Headphones. They are explicitly described as open-ear, which is a different wearing style from the Panasonic.
• Best for the larger listed driver → Panasonic Rp-hs46e-k. It has a 30 mm driver compared with Mehomeli’s 16.2 mm driver; that difference is a specification, not proof of better sound.
• Best for a foldable design → Mehomeli Kid Headphones. The listed foldable construction is useful when packing headphones away between school or travel use.
• Best for the lower listed item weight → Panasonic Rp-hs46e-k. Its item weight is 16 g, versus about 20 g for Mehomeli.
• Best for a child-specific age range → Mehomeli Kid Headphones. Its product information gives an age range of 3–16.
• Best for gaming without a bulky over-ear headset → Panasonic Rp-hs46e-k, in my opinion. The clip-on design and wired 3.5 mm jack make it a direct option for compatible gaming devices, though the sheet does not confirm a microphone.
• Best if you want sound directed toward the ears without an in-ear shape → Mehomeli Kid Headphones. Its open-ear construction is the clearest match for that preference.
Neither product is wireless, and neither sheet gives enough detail to make a firm claim about voice-chat performance. If you are shopping for a touch control wireless headset for gaming, neither one fits that description: both are wired, and their control methods are listed as touch for Panasonic and remote for Mehomeli. Similarly, shoppers searching for earphones for gaming or the best in ear headphones for gaming should note that neither product is described as an in-ear model. The Panasonic is an on-ear clip; the Mehomeli is open-ear.
Start with the way you want the headphones to sit. Panasonic’s clips rest on the ears and use an ergonomic hook for positioning. Mehomeli’s open-ear design is aimed at listeners who do not want a conventional in-ear shape. Those are meaningful differences in fit, so the better match is the one that suits the wearer’s preference—not simply the one with the larger driver.
Next, check the device connection. Both products list a 3.5 mm jack and wired connectivity. That is convenient when the gaming device, tablet, or computer has a compatible headphone port, but it is a limitation if the device lacks one. The product details do not specify bundled adapters, so do not assume one is included.
Consider your surroundings, too. Mehomeli lists no noise control, while Panasonic’s control information names active noise cancellation without further explanation. That does not provide enough detail to compare real-world noise reduction confidently. If blocking background sound is a priority, verify the product’s capabilities rather than treating either description as a guarantee.
For gaming, also think about communication. The supplied specifications do not confirm a microphone for either pair. If you regularly speak with teammates, make sure your setup has another way to handle voice chat or choose a product whose microphone is clearly specified. Finally, check the current price on Amazon using the page’s button if cost is part of your decision; the features and fit are the more useful basis for comparing these two here.
I would choose the Panasonic Rp-hs46e-k for gaming because its 30 mm drivers, slim clip-on shape, and 16 g listed weight make it the more appealing wired option for listening without a bulky over-ear frame. It is not an in-ear model, and I would not assume it includes a microphone. For a child who wants an open-ear design and a foldable pair for school or travel, I would choose the Mehomeli instead.
FAQ
No. Both are listed as wired and use a 3.5 mm jack. Check that your console, tablet, or other device has a compatible port before choosing either pair.
The Mehomeli sheet lists no noise-control feature. Its open-ear design is not presented as a way to block surrounding sound, so it is not the obvious choice for noisy settings.
Panasonic has the lower listed item weight at 16 g. Mehomeli is listed at about 20 g and has a foldable design, which may be more useful if compact storage matters more than the weight difference.
