Alam Jan Dario, guide for 25 years now, was born in the Chapursan valley of Hunza in 1972. His ancestor came from the Wakhan corridor 150 years ago. Let him introduce himself:
“I went to Karachi for higher education. After my return from karachi, I was a school teacher for three years in my homeland, ZoodKhun, in the Chapursan valley, Hunza then I joined the tourism industry in 1992 from Skardu, Baltistan, the largest tourist area in pakistan , as a porter.
After a year, I became a trekking guide for John Mock and Kimberly O’Neil for the Indukush and Karakrom (Lonely Planet) trekking guide.
After as a trekking guide, I start to explore several new trekking routes and high passes in the Karakoran, Hindu Kush and Pamir mountains ”
Alam Jan speaks many languages. He is fluent in English. He always loves to chat with his guests, over a cup of tea, and talk about his beautiful region that he loves so much. If you have enough time, he will tell you amazing stories about his adventurous borderless adventure in the high mountains of Pakistan, Afghanistan or Tajikistan.
Haji Bibi, manager of Pamir Serai, was born into a Qalender family in the Chapursan Valley of Hunza. Her family has cared for the famous saint of Baba Ghundi in the Chapursan Valley for two generations. and she is the first woman to lend a hand in the tourism sector in the Chapursan Valley to her husband, Alam Jan Dario. Alam Jan and Haji Bibi have four children: two daughters and two sons.
