We tend to think of erosion as destruction, but I see it as a beautiful uncovering. I painted this during a massive period of personal evolution. For years, I felt the heavy pressure of society’s expectations pushing me into a traditional box, making me question my own identity as a bisexual woman and causing me to doubt my desires. This painting represents the exact moment those rigid, artificial structures began to crack. It is about stripping away the "rules" we think we have to follow to reveal a fundamental, authentic peace that was there all along.

There comes a time when the structures that no longer serve us simply cannot be held together anymore. In this final movement, an owl reaches outward as its form beautifully begins to come apart, caught between holding on and releasing. It represents the quiet bravery of letting go of things that once seemed incredibly important, even if they aren't anymore. Life is hectic, and navigating daily pressures isn’t easy, but this painting is a reminder that not everything that unravels is a loss. Sometimes, things have to come apart at the seams to reveal the gorgeous, resilient truth hidden underneath.
