More Ways to Promote Mathematical Thinking

• Have your child describe mouse's position on some of the pages? Get them to be specific and accurate by asking, "what words can we use to describe where mouse is?"

• Look at the page where the mouse is trying to push bear off of the chair.  Ask "How hard do you think mouse is pushing? How do you know that?" Say "If mouse does push bear off the chair, show me with your hand which way he would fall? How do you know?"

• Pick any page and ask your child, "What do you notice?" and see what comes up.
