Meet your Band Director

Stavros Makropoulos instructs the 6th,7th and 8th Grade curricular and classes at Palos South Middle School and serves as the Director of Bands for Palos School District #118. In addition to his primary roles, he also leads the Palos South Jazz Band, the Palos South Percussion Ensemble, and is the Lighting and Sound Director for the Palos South Drama Club. He holds a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Concordia University Chicago and Bachelor's Degree in Instrumental Music Education from Western Illinois University. He is also a graduate of Stagg High School and Conrady Jr. High.

Prior to Palos #118, Mr. Makropoulos served as the Director of Bands for Midlothian School District from 2015-2021, and was the Assistant Band Director / General Music teacher at Aux Sable Middle School in Plainfield from 2011 -2015. He has also worked with the Lincoln-Way North Marching Band, the Lincoln-Way East Marching Band, Andrew High School Marching Band and has served as a solo-ensemble judge for several festivals.
