*Nahuatl: dialect language indigenous to all of MesoAmerica (ie. mesoamerica: Mexico through Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and northern Costa Rica, and within this region pre-Columbian societies flourished before the Spanish colonization of the Americas when European diseases caused the deaths of upwards of 90% of the indigenous people.
