Dear Readers, 

Most people rarely look up when they enter a room; instead, they usually focus on the walls, floors, and furniture. I think that's where the real magic can occur. Often disregarded, the ceiling is our "fifth wall," full of unrealized potential to elevate a room from ordinary to spectacular.

From the architectural drama of tray and coffered ceilings to the mood-altering potential of paint to the statement lighting that transforms function into art, we examine the art of elevating that fifth wall in this issue. We'll explore bold wallpaper options, textured finishes, and even detailed instructions to help you realize your own ceiling ideas.

Design, in my opinion, is always about creating an immersive experience rather than just what is visible at eye level. A well-thought-out ceiling connects all the other components of a space, lifts the eye, and stimulates the imagination.
