Welcome To Palatine Models
With many years experience in railway modelling, particularly 4mm P4 (18.83mm) scale, we are able to offer useful items for the specialist modeller.
Currently we have many items available centred around the Alex Jackson coupling and wagon and coach building aids. We also have rail droppers which help to wire up handbuilt track and metal strips for scratchbuilders.
Our wagon baseplates are etched plates that can be used as a solid foundation upon which to build a wagon chassis using sprung w-irons. They are available to suit wagon chassis up to 26 feet long. See the baseplate page for more information.
In our Alex Jackson coupling range we have an etch based on the late Graham Turner's bending jig which will help you make AJ Couplings easily and accurately as well as our 180 jig which makes the production of the first bend simple. We have also developed items to make the use of the hinged version of the coupling a more simple and effective method.
Anyone who is interested in the use of the Alex Jackson Coupling would be advised to purchase the book 'Alex Jackson - the man and the coupling' by Dave Booth, Sid Stubbs, Tony Williams, Graham Turner and friends. This book is published by the Scalefour Society and is available direct from their website. More details on the AJ Coupling can also be found on the Manchester Model Railway Society's Website under technical articles.
All of our items have been primarily produced to help the P4 Group of the Manchester Model Railway Society make models more effectively but are offered for sale to others to help them make models quicker and more accurately.
We have also developed some items for 7mm narrow gauge, specifically for use with the Dorset Models range of wagon kits. More information available on the 7mm page.
Note that unless specifically mentioned, all our etches are in nickel silver, we do NOT use brass in our products and when you have made some you will see why.
