When you create an account, we collect:
Email address - For authentication and account recovery
Name - To identify you to other players
Player ID - A unique identifier for friend and team invitations
Password - Stored securely using encryption (we never see your actual password)
During sign up, you are required to provide:
Gender - For match filtering preferences
Date of birth - For age-based filtering
Location (city/region) - To help find nearby players
Experience level - For skill-based matchmaking
You may choose to provide:
Profile photo and gallery photos (up to 5) - To personalize your profile
Golf handicap - For more precise skill matching
Play preferences and hobbies - To find compatible playing partners
We collect data about your activity in the App:
Match history - Games played, scores, wins, losses, ties
Team memberships - Teams you create or join
Round participation - Casual golf rounds you host or join
Leaderboard rankings - Your performance statistics by course
Challenge history - Challenges sent and received
Chat messages - Direct messages, group chats, match coordination chats, and round chats
Message content - Text, images, GIFs, and links you share
Message metadata - Timestamps and read status
We automatically collect:
Device type and model - iPhone, Android device, etc.
Operating system and version - iOS 17, Android 14, etc.
App version - To provide support and updates
Push notification token - To send you notifications (if enabled)
GPS location - Used only when you search for golf courses
How we use it - To find courses within approximately 30 miles of you
Storage - We do NOT store your location history. Location is only used in real-time during course searches
Your control - You can enable or disable location services in your device settings and within the App
We use your information to:
Create and manage your account
Match you with compatible players and teams
Facilitate competitive matches and casual golf rounds
Enable messaging between players
Track scores, statistics, and leaderboard rankings
Discover golf courses near you
Analyze usage patterns to improve features
Fix bugs and technical issues
Develop new features based on user needs
Send push notifications about matches, challenges, and messages (if enabled)
Send important account and security updates
Respond to your feedback and support requests
Certain information is visible to other players:
Public profile - Name, display name, Player ID, profile photo, experience level
Match statistics - Wins, losses, ties, and leaderboard rankings
Team information - Team name and membership (to teammates and opponents)
Round information - When you join public rounds, other participants can see your profile
We use trusted third-party services to operate the App:
Supabase: Database, authentication, file storage, Account data, messages, photos
Firebase (Google): Push notifications, Device token, notification content
Google Places API: Golf course discovery, Your location (when searching nearby courses)
Tenor GIF search in chat, Search queries only
These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services they provide to us.
We do not sell your personal information (such as your name, email, phone number, date of birth, or contact details) to third parties.
We may share anonymized, aggregated data that does not identify you personally. For example:
"500 rounds were played at this course this month"
"70% of users prefer morning tee times"
We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or government request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Pair Up Golf, our users, or the public.
Your data is stored on secure servers provided by Supabase (cloud infrastructure). Photos are stored in secure cloud storage with access controls.
We protect your data using:
Encryption - All data transmitted between your device and our servers uses HTTPS encryption
Secure authentication - Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text
Access controls - Row-level security policies restrict data access
Secure sessions - Authentication tokens are securely managed
Account data - Retained while your account is active
Messages - Retained to maintain conversation history
Match history - Retained for leaderboards and statistics
Deleted accounts - When you delete your account, your personal data is removed
You can view and update your profile information at any time in the App's Profile and Settings screens.
You control which notifications you receive. In Settings > Notifications, you can toggle:
Match notifications
Challenge notifications
Team invitations
Message notifications
Round notifications
Reminders
Email notifications
You can enable or disable location services:
In your device settings
In the App under Settings > General > Location
You can delete your account at any time:
Go to Settings > General > Delete Account
Confirm your decision
When you delete your account:
Your profile and personal data are permanently removed
Your messages are retained but attributed to "Deleted User"
Your match history may be retained for leaderboard integrity
This action cannot be undone

Pair Up Golf is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe we have collected data from someone under 18, please contact us immediately.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes:
We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top
For significant changes, we may notify you through the App or by email
Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy
