If you want a lightweight, open-ear solution that keeps your ears safe and secure for active use or long Zoom calls without blocking out the world, choose PAINTAUDIO EarMate 1; if you need immersive, studio-quality sound with deep noise cancellation for focused work or travel, choose FOFUN NC95. These two devices occupy completely different spaces in the audio market, serving users with opposing priorities regarding comfort, isolation, and sound fidelity. One is built to be forgotten on your head while you move, run, or chat; the other is engineered to create a private sanctuary of sound wherever you go.
• PAINTAUDIO EarMate 1: The biggest strength is its ultra-lightweight, open-ear design that prevents ear fatigue during all-day wear, making it ideal for sports and awareness-focused tasks. Its trade-off is the lack of active noise cancellation, meaning ambient sounds will always bleed into your experience. This pick is for runners, commuters who need situational awareness, and anyone needing a headset for Zoom calls where hearing colleagues nearby is essential.
• FOFUN NC95: The standout feature is its powerful Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation paired with massive 40mm planar magnetic drivers for deep, Hi-Res audio immersion. The trade-off is the heavier over-ear build and the fact that it isolates you from your surroundings, which can be unsafe or impractical during certain activities. This pick is for audiophiles, travelers, and professionals seeking the best active noise cancelling headphone for zoom calls in noisy environments.
The PAINTAUDIO EarMate 1 is designed around the philosophy of "hearing everything." By utilizing an open-ear architecture with air conduction technology, this device sits outside the ear canal rather than plugging into it. This design choice eliminates the pressure buildup common in traditional earbuds, ensuring that no matter how many hours you wear them, your ears remain free from pain or damage. For someone who spends their day working from home, participating in virtual meetings, or moving through busy city streets, this level of physical comfort is non-negotiable. The adjustable ear hooks provide a secure fit that stays put even during vigorous movement, making it a top contender for those looking for the best foldable sports earbuds for zoom calls or casual listening while staying alert to their environment.

Sound quality here is handled by 16.2mm dynamic drivers that focus on delivering a balanced audio profile with enhanced low-frequency response. While it does not block out the world, the dual-side phase-amplitude technology works hard to minimize sound leakage, so you can listen to music or take calls without disturbing those right next to you. The battery life is another major selling point for heavy users. With a single charge lasting up to 9 hours and a charging case that provides five additional full charges, you get a total of 45 hours of playtime. This means you can go days without hunting for a charger, which is critical for anyone relying on their headset for long work sessions or extended commutes. The Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity ensures a stable connection within a 10-meter range, handling the demands of modern smartphones and laptops seamlessly.
However, this product is not for everyone. If your primary goal is to drown out the roar of an airplane engine, the hum of a construction site, or the chatter of a busy office, the EarMate 1 will not meet that need. Because there is no active noise cancellation, you must rely on passive isolation, which is minimal with an open design. Furthermore, the control scheme relies entirely on touch inputs, which some users might find less precise than physical buttons when wearing gloves or adjusting the device quickly. You should skip this model if you are a die-hard bass lover expecting the visceral punch of sealed headphones, or if you require absolute silence to concentrate deeply. It is a tool for the active listener who values safety and comfort over total isolation.
In stark contrast, the FOFUN NC95 is a powerhouse built for immersion and isolation. As an over-ear circumaural design, these headphones fully encompass your ears, creating a seal that is essential for effective noise cancellation. The inclusion of Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation allows the device to actively identify and cancel out external frequencies before they reach your eardrums. This makes it the superior choice for anyone seeking the best active noise cancelling headphone for zoom calls, particularly in chaotic environments like coffee shops, open-plan offices, or while traveling. The four-microphone array works in tandem with the ANC system to ensure that your voice comes through clearly to others on the call, even when background noise is present.
The audio performance is driven by large 40mm planar magnetic drivers, which offer a significantly wider frequency response and greater detail than standard dynamic drivers found in many consumer earbuds. When paired with Hi-Res Audio certification, the result is a rich, layered soundscape that reveals nuances in music and dialogue that smaller drivers simply cannot reproduce. The impedance of 32 ohms and sensitivity of 105 dB suggest a device capable of delivering high volume levels with clarity. Additionally, the ability to switch between Normal Mode and Transparency Mode gives you flexibility; you can shut out the world to focus, or flip the switch to hear announcements and conversations without removing the headphones. The physical knob control adds a tactile element that many users prefer over touch panels, allowing for quick adjustments to volume or modes without fumbling with a screen.
Battery life is arguably the most impressive spec on this device. With a claimed average life of 65 hours, the NC95 can last through multiple international flights or weeks of daily commuting on a single charge. The Bluetooth 6.0 support extends the wireless range to 15 meters, providing more freedom of movement compared to older standards. However, this performance comes with weight. At 0.58 kg (including the carrying case and accessories), the NC95 is nearly twice as heavy as the EarMate 1. Over-ear designs can also generate heat during extended wear in warm climates, which is a factor to consider if you plan to wear them for eight-hour stretches. This product is for the person who prioritizes audio fidelity and noise isolation above all else, and who does not mind the slight bulk in exchange for a premium listening experience.
