When a succubus and a witch fall in love, they make one Zephyr Nightwell. He was largely raised by his dad, while his mom was a transient presence in his life. Despite the fact that he inherited both his father's magic and his mother's demonic nature, Zephyr's dad tried to give him as normal a life as possible.  

Zephyr always felt a bit out of place, being what he was, everyone always watching him, kids at school always coming onto him because he couldn't control his natural thrall. His mom and older sister visited as often as he wanted, but they always kept in contact (his sister Blair more than their mother). 

He put himself through business school by working as a car salesman; his thral made it very easy for him to sell a car to anyone, and his commission was fantastic. By the time he graduated from college, he had a very healthy savings, and ended up going into business with Nia Harper, his best from from high school, to open a nightclub. Zephyr financed everything, and is still technically co-owner of the club, but he keeps his job as a car salesman and left all decision making up to Nia.
