"I believe the performing arts are a powerful space for self-discovery, confidence, and connection—especially for high school students who are learning to navigate who they are and who they want to become.

In both theatre and music, I will focus on helping students develop not just technical skills but also personal expression. I plan to teach foundational concepts—like vocal technique, rhythm, ensemble work, and character analysis—but I also make space for creativity, risk-taking, and collaboration. Whether they’re preparing for a solo audition or devising a group piece, I want every student to feel like they have a voice in my classroom.

One of my proudest moments during student teaching was working with a middle school student on their audition material. Over time, they had a series of lightbulb moments—those ‘aha!’ shifts where technique meets confidence—and watching their transformation in just a short twenty minutes reminded me why I teach. That growth, that breakthrough, is everything to see in their eyes.

In addition to my passion for the performing arts, I am also deeply interested in gifted education. I’ve had the opportunity to work with gifted students during my student teaching and saw firsthand how vital it is to provide them with meaningful challenges, creative outlets, and opportunities for deeper exploration. I believe gifted learners thrive in environments that allow for autonomy, inquiry, and cross-disciplinary thinking—qualities that align naturally with the arts. My goal is to continue developing strategies that support the academic and emotional needs of gifted students, and I plan to pursue both an endorsement and a master’s degree in gifted education to better serve this population. By combining my background in the arts with my dedication to gifted education, I hope to create learning experiences that are both rigorous and inspiring.

I will tailor my lessons to meet students where they are, using a mix of movement, discussion, visual aids, and hands-on work. My classroom will be a space of encouragement, accountability, and joy—and I will strive to make every student feel seen, heard, and valued."
