After watching my friends not receive scholarships or opportunities even though they deserved them. A gap that I felt need to fill hence a solution was birthed in form of a web-based application to show the world their skills and portfolios. An idea that placed 4rth in Africa at the South African Ideas Festival.
There is an African Proverb that says “Tomorrow belongs to people who prepare for it today.” YVOT is preparing for the future. There is no denying the talent of Africans whether this is Afrobeats that has taken the world by storm, or the abundance of athletes of African heritage dominating the sporting arena. Statistically, we hold the largest number of Multi Talented youth between the ages of 15-35 at 90 million and this number is growing. Just by population numbers alone we possess the highest probability of having the most talented individuals on the planet right now. The talent is there. The challenge is that as a Young African you currently have no way of showcasing all your talents online in a single unified manner. You may post a whatsapp status here and there or a tik tok or instagram story, but all of these dissociated platforms make it hard for employers and universities to understand the breadth and depth of skills and talents that you hold.
