Grading Policy
It is the philosophy of the Page Middle School Bands that grades should be based on students ability to demonstrate understanding and mastery of musical concepts. With this being said, grades are based upon a student's ability to perform certain skills and effort to learn those skills. Specific details and grading can be found in each quarters syllabus or on the class website. All playing tests or assessments may be retaken to improve the grade. To do this an appointment must be set up with the director.
With regards to performances, attendance is mandatory at events. Failure to attend a performance will result in the lowering of the final grade for the term by one full grade value. In the event that a valid reason to attend arises. Students should complete the performance absence form two weeks prior to the performance date. In the event of an emergency (sudden illness, family emergency, transportation issues on the way the performance) contact the school/Mr. Moore as soon as it is feasible. Permitted reasons for excused absences with prior notice include.
- Family Emergency (See above)
- Religious Reasons/Conflicts
- Medical Reasons/Sickness
- Unavoidable Transportation Issues (Families have attempted arrange multiple other methods to attend the performance)
- School sponsored event (cleared with Mr. Moore and activity Sponsor/Coach)
