Interested in Cub Scouts? Contact us! We welcome new families all year long!
Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts are part of the national organization of BSA. All BSA programs are now open to boys and girls. Girl Scouts USA is a separate organization. Both BSA and Girls Scouts USA are part of a long, international tradition of Scouting. Each program has its own strengths and special features. Choose the program that is right for your family.
When my children were very young, I was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Now I am a Cub Scout Cubmaster. I am an educator at heart. If you decide that Cub Scout Pack 131 is not the best fit for your family, I am happy to help you find information about other local opportunities.
Cub Scouts is for all children (boys and girls) in Kindergarten through 5th grade, or ages 5 to 11ish. After Cub Scouts, children may choose to move on to Boy Scouts (open to boys and girls 11-17 years old), Venturing (Co-ed 14-20 years old), Sea Scouts (Co-ed 14-20 years old), Exploring (Co-ed 10-20 years old). Children in 3rd through 8th grades are also eligible for STEM Scouts, but the closest STEM Scout Lab is in Philadelphia. For more information, please visit https://beascout.scouting.org/
All of Pack 131's dens (Lion, Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos) meet on Sunday evenings at 5:30pm.
Pack meetings will be once every 4-6 weeks. These meetings will take place during on Sunday evenings at 5:30pm. The calendar is being finalized now and will be available by our first meeting on September 19.
That's okay! We understand life gets busy and family comes first. We'll work with you to figure out how to help your Cub Scout be involved and keep learning and earning adventure loops in a way that works for you. If you need to take a break for a while, we will welcome you back when you are ready.
Generally, all dens in Pack 131 meet at the same location, then spread out to do their own activities.
While the weather allows, we will be meeting OUTSIDE at Macungie Memorial Park. Last year, we were able to meet outside into early November. Please dress for the weather.
As weather gets colder, we may shift to indoor meetings at Macungie Memorial Park, Bethany Church (1208 Brookside Road, Wescosville), or another nearby location as appropriate for the meeting activities.
Cub Scout Pack 131 relies on volunteers to plan activities, organize Service Projects, and run Den and Pack meetings. Cub Scouts is a FAMILY activity and the expectation is that every family will volunteer to help in the way that is right for them. Some caring adults come to every meeting and volunteer as Den Leaders. Other caring adults volunteer their time and talents for one event or activity. Some caring adults prefer to help from "behind the scenes" by doing administrative tasks relating to fundraising, scheduling, and membership. Others enjoy participating in the outdoor activities. Pack 131 has volunteer openings to fit each different family's schedule and involvement ability.
Typically, Cub Scouts are accompanied by a caring adult. This can be an opportunity for the adults to join their child in a fun activity, something different than the usual rush-rush of school-homework-chores-dinner-bed. Other adults take the opportunity to socialize with each other (because we've been stuck inside in front of screens too much too!)
