Pacific Tigers Engineering Abroad (PacTEA) is a group from University of the Pacific's School of Engineering and Computer Science who design solutions for international engineering problems. We traveled to San Juan Comalapa, Guatemala in December 2018 on our group's sixth trip. This is our first trip to volunteer with Long Way Home and in Guatemala.
Dr. Basha is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of the Pacific. She founded PacTEA in September 2015 and is passionate about providing engineering solutions for the residents of developing regions along with sharing her vision with students.
Abdullah is just finished his time (last week!) at the University of the Pacific studying Computer Engineering. He enjoys the outdoors, staying fit, and going on adventures. This is Abdullah's first trip with PacTEA.
Giselle is a junior at the University of the Pacific studying Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computer Science. She likes long walks on the beach and listening to music. This is Giselle's second trip with PacTEA.
Angel is a senior at the University of the Pacific studying Electrical Engineering. This is Angel's first trip with PacTEA.
Cristian is a junior at the University of the Pacific studying Computer Engineering. He is the treasurer for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and would like to spread awareness about STEM to underprivileged communities. This is Cristian's second trip with PacTEA.
Jenny is a junior at the University of the Pacific studying Biomedical Engineering. This is Jenny's first trip with PacTEA and first time traveling by herself without family, so she is stoked to be visiting Guatemala with Dr. Basha and her engineering classmates. She looks forward to putting herself out of her comfort zone, experiencing new things, and learning a lot during this trip!
