The day started dark and early at 1:15AM... Our shuttle left at 2am just to make sure we didn't have any problems. Everything went smoothly so we arrived at the airport at 3am - three hours early for Abdullah's flight to Mexico and four hours early for everyone else's flight to Dallas. Nothing was open so we checked in to our American flight using the kiosks and then waited in front of the desk for Abdullah's check-in. We had a debrief on the trip and then waited and waited and waited. Abdullah checked in around 4:30am, Cristian checked his bag, and then we went through immigration plus security. Finally we could all have breakfast and wait some more! It was great.
Everyone left Guatemala safely. Five of us were on the same plane to Dallas and everyone crashed. We arrived in Dallas with five hours until our next flight (there weren't any sooner options unfortunately). Dr. Basha used her global entry to bypass everything and go some secret back route while everyone else went the normal route (which had no lines and was about the same amount of time). Everyone regrouped inside the terminal, grabbed lunch, and enjoyed having data on their phones again.
After many hours of people watching and internet time later, Jenny went off to fly to San Jose and the other four left 10 minutes later to Sacramento. Everything went smoothly. The Sacramento group had no issues and quickly dispersed to their homes. Everyone had a great trip and was looking forward to seeing family again!
