Packers vs Vikings Live - The Minnesota Vikings will open the 2020 regular season at home and against one of their biggest rivals, and there’s a good chance no fans will be in attendance to see it live.
The Vikings and every other NFL team released their regular season schedule Thursday night. The Vikings will host the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 at U.S. Bank Stadium, scheduled for now for Sept. 13. If the NFL intends to start its regular season in September, indications are it will have to be without fans due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Minnesota Vikings 2020 schedule released FOX 9 Sports' Jim Rich and Pierre Noujaim analyze the newly released Minnesota Vikings schedule.
It’s the first time in franchise history the Vikings will have hosted the Packers in Week 1. The Vikings have had their season-opener six times at Lambeau Field, most recently in 2008. It’s also the earliest the Packers will have come to Minneapolis since 2016, which was Week 2 in the first game at U.S. Bank Stadium.
The Vikings travel to face Philip Rivers and the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2, return home to face the Tennessee Titans in Week 3 and then go back on the road Week 4 to face the Houston Texans. The first four games are all noon kickoffs.
Minnesota has just two prime time games on the schedule, Sunday Night Football at Seattle on Oct. 11, and Monday Night Football agains the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field on Nov. 16.
The Vikings will also play on a Friday for just the fourth time in franchise history. They will be in New Orleans facing the Saints on Christmas Day.
Minnesota will visit Tom Brady, and former Gophers stars Antoine Winfield Jr. and Tyler Johnson in Tampa Bay on Dec. 13. That's after three straight home games against the Cowboys, Panthers and Jaguars. Minnesota's bye is in Week 7. The Vikings finish the regular season on the road at Detroit on Jan. 3.
The Vikings will have six games against NFC North opponents. They’ll have four games against the NFC South, four games against the AFC South and games against the Cowboys and Seahawks. We know the home opponents will be the Bears, Lions, Packers, Jaguars, Titans, Falcons, Panthers and Cowboys.
The road tests will be the Bears, Lions, Packers, Texans, Colts, Saints, Buccaneers and Seahawks.
The Vikings finish the regular season Jan. 3 at Detroit, which will mark three out of the last four on the road to end the regular season.
Here is a game-by-game look at the 2020 schedule:
Here we go. Monday Night Football is here, and the Packers take on the Vikings in a game with playoff implications.
Both teams have clinched a playoff berth, but there’s still a lot to play for.
The Packers could still end up with the No. 1 seed, the No. 2 seed, No. 3 seed or even the No. 6 seed. That’s why this game is important.
Here’s the information for how to watch tonight:
Kickoff time: 7:15 p.m. CT
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Stadium: U.S. Bank Stadium
TV channel: ESPN
Live stream: fuboTV
The Packers got the help they needed to stay in the race for the No. 1 seed with the Seattle Seahawks losing to the Arizona Cardinals. Green Bay doesn’t control its own destiny for the top seed just yet, but by winning out, it’d have a good chance of finishing in first place of the conference.

Winning tonight would guarantee the Packers the NFC North title and one of the top three seeds. Win both games and the No. 2 seed will be theirs at worst.
On the flip side, lose tonight and then lose next week to the Detroit Lions, and the Vikings will have the opportunity to win the NFC North, pushing the Packers all the way down to the No. 6 seed. Green Bay won a Super Bowl from that position, so maybe it’s not such a bad thing.
A win or a loss tonight could be the difference between hosting a playoff game in the divisional round or the wild-card round.
Both teams enter this game relatively healthy, although Minnesota won’t have Pro Bowl running back Dalvin Cook out there. Alexander Mattison is also questionable.
Can the Packers end their losing run at U.S. Bank Stadium? If the answer is yes, new NFC North champions will be crowned on Monday Night Football.
What to Know
The Green Bay Packers have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. Green Bay and the Minnesota Vikings will face off in an NFC North battle at 8:15 p.m. ET on Monday at U.S. Bank Stadium. Green Bay is currently enjoying a three-game winning streak and is looking to extend their dominance.
The Packers were able to grind out a solid win over the Chicago Bears last week, winning 21-13. The Packers can attribute much of their success to RB Aaron Jones, who punched in two rushing touchdowns, and WR Davante Adams, who caught seven passes for one TD and 103 yards.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the contest if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Minnesota's strategy against the Los Angeles Chargers last week. Minnesota took their game against Los Angeles by a conclusive 39-10 score. The oddsmakers were on Minnesota's side, but they didn't give the team enough credit as the margin was unexpectedly wide.
Their wins bumped Green Bay to 11-3 and Minnesota to 10-4. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: The Packers rank first in the league when it comes to interceptions, with only two on the season. The Vikings are not quite as good, but they are no chumps, either: they enter the matchup with only five interceptions, good for third best in the NFL. So expect both teams to feel comfortable airing the ball out.
