What to Expect

• Beginner-friendly camping experience

  • • Pack 500 participates in Lake Erie Council S’mores Cub Adventure (June or July) and Cub Haunted (October). These camps allow scouts to participate in shooting sports (BB guns, Archery and Wrist Rockets), Climbing Wall, STEM projects and various other activities.

• 1-2 nights with planned activities

• Support from experienced leaders

  • • 80% of families with new scouts have no prior scouting experience. Pack Leadership (Cub Master and Den Leaders) can answer any questions that you have concerning camping and help setup your tent for the first time.

• Family-focused fun and learning

Top 5 Tips for Success

• • • Keep it simple – you don’t need fancy gear on your first Cub Scout camping trip

    • Pack extra socks

    • Let your Scout help pack

    • Expect a little chaos – it’s part of the fun

    • Ask for help – other families and leaders will support you

Common Concerns (Solved!)

• No gear?

  • • Borrow from others or purchase online.

• Bad weather?

  • • Pack layers and stay dry.

    • Pack extra shoes and clothing for your scout and leave it in the car so they stay dry. Scouts always find mud and puddles on every trip.

• Kids won’t sleep?

  • • Totally normal.

• Forgot something?

  • • Ask – Someone will have it. Pack 500 brings various supplies in our patrol box.
