FAQ: "Does my Cub Scout have to attend every meeting?" No -- your Cub Scout is always welcome but we realize that kids and families are busy and may not be able to attend every meeting. No worries. That said, the more they attend, the more they learn and the faster they complete the requirements to earn the rank they're working on.
FAQ: Can my Cub Scout join mid-year? Yes! We'll teach them what they need to know to participate fully and have a great time.
Weekend adventures:
In addition to the 2x/month den meetings, about once per month we'll go on an adventure (usually on a Saturday).
We're currently nailing down the dates and locations of the weekend adventures for the 2026-27 Cub Scouting year. To give a sense of them, in the last Cub Scouting Year we hiked in the Eloise Butler Wildflower Garden, explored the Stone Arch Bridge, visited the Bakken science museum, visited Fort Snelling, engaged in community service by packing food at Feed My Starving Children and by improving trails in the woods, went sledding at Kenwood Park, climbed around an Army helicopter at the hangar in St. Paul, and toured the State Capitol with a former state representative. Plus, the older Cub Scouts went camping!
Relationship between Cub Scout Pack 33 and Scout Troop 33: Cub Scout Pack 33 is supported by Scout Troop 33. Scout Troop 33 is chartered by Westminster Presbyterian Church and has been active since 1918, producing hundreds of Eagle Scouts and having a positive impact on the community.
Camp Ajawah: Pack 33, Troop 33, and another troop chartered by Westminster Presbyterian Church (Troop 100) are fortunate to have access to Camp Ajawah, a beautiful lakeside camp 45 minutes north of downtown Minneapolis. Learn more at www.ajawah.org

Participation fees: Northern Star Scouting is the Scout Council that serves youth in Minnesota and Western Wisconsin. Northern Star Scouting is part of Scouting America (formerly known as Boy Scouts of America). Northern Star Scouting charges $205 per Cub Scout per year. Every kid deserves to participate in Cub Scouts; we will not let money be a barrier. If the price is a barrier to participation, let us know via cubscoutpack33@yahoo.com and we will work out an approach that works for you. Beyond that fee payable to the Scout Council, there is no separate or additional fee payable to Cub Scout Pack 33. To raise funds to pay for activities and supplies, Cub Scout Pack 33 conducts one fundraiser each year: a wreath sale in the fall. We ask that all families participate by selling and/or buying wreaths so that we have the funds necessary to run the Pack.
Uniforms and other gear:
The only thing necessary for the basic uniform is the uniform shirt. There are all kinds of things you can buy if you'd like, such as hats and belts and pants -- but again, the only required thing is the uniform shirt. As your Cub Scout achieves ranks, s/he will put the patch corresponding to that rank onto his/her uniform.
A great option for buying the uniform shirt is the Base Camp Scout Shop at the Scouts' beautiful Base Camp facility near the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport. The uniform you buy there will already have the logo of the Northern Star Scouting Council and Scouting America on it. They can sew on the "33" for Pack 33 right there while you wait.
If you'd rather buy online, here's a link to the Cub Scout Short Sleeve Uniform Shirt. Or, Ragstock in Uptown often has used Cub Scout uniforms - we recommend that you call ahead to confirm: (612) 823-6690.
Buying online or at Ragstock adds complexity because you'd need to obtain the patches separately and then iron/sew them on. If you go this route, let us know and we'll guide you to the right patches.
If the cost of the uniform is an obstacle, let us know at cubscoutpack33@yahoo.com and the pack can subsidize. We will not ever let cost get in the way of a kid partcipating in Scouts.
As part of your registration, the Cub Scout Pack will provide (i) an advancement book and (ii) a neckerchief, both corresponding to your child's level. So, you don't need to buy those.
