What is Scouting?
Since 1910, Scouting America has helped younger boys and girls through Cub Scouting.
It is a year-round family-oriented part of the Scouting America program designed for boys and girls who are in the kindergarten through fifth grade or are 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 years old.
Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the 10 purposes of Cub Scouting:
Character Development
Spiritual Growth
Good Citizenship
Sportsmanship and Fitness
Family Understanding
Respectful Relationships
Personal Achievement
Friendly Service
Fun and Adventure
Preparation for Scouting America
As a parent, you want your Cub Scout to grow up to be self-reliant and dependable - a person of worth, a caring individual. Scouting has these same goals in mind for the Cub Scouts.
We help by weaving lifetime values into fun and educational activities designed to help families teach their scouts how to make good decisions throughout their lives and give them confidence as they become the adult leaders of tomorrow.
In a society where your Cub Scout is often told that winning is everything, Cub Scouting teaches Cub Scouts to do their best and be helpful to others as expressed in the Cub Scout Motto, Scout Oath, and Scout Law.
Cub Scouting is fun! But it is fun with a purpose.
We hope this is the beginning of what we hope will become a lasting relationship between your Scout and Scouting.
