Regardless of what age or grade a Cub Scout is in, he or she must earn the Bobcat rank before earning any other rank. This rank focuses on the fundamentals of Cub Scouting that every Cub Scout must know. The Bobcat requirements are:
Kindergartners work toward the Lion rank. The Lion rank is earned by completing the exercises in the pamphlet entitled How to Protect Your Children From Child Abuse: A Parent’s Guide and these five adventures:
First graders work toward earning the Tiger rank. The Tiger rank is earned by completing seven adventures, six required and one elective.
Second graders work toward earning the Wolf rank. The Wolf rank is earned by completing seven adventures, six required and one elective.
Third graders work toward earning the Bear rank. The Bear rank is earned by completing seven adventures, six required and one elective.
Fourth graders work toward earning the Webelos rank. The Webelos rank is earned by completing six adventures, 5 required and 1 elective. Scouts must complete the Webelos rank before working towards their Arrow of Light.
Fifth graders work toward earning the Arrow of Light rank. If a fourth-grade Cub Scout has completed the Webelos rank, they may begin to work on the Arrow of Light. The Arrow of Light rank is earned by completing five adventures, 4 required and 1 elective.
