Pack 122 uses the BSA tool, Scoutbook (link in the footer), to track the scout's advancement and awards as well as the full calendar of events. Parents of enrolled scouts should refer to Scoutbook for confirmation of dates and times. We regularly offer the following programs.

The 2nd Sunday of each month the pack visits a local preserve and hikes for 1-3 miles as a group.
Presently coupled with Hike Club, Fishing Club is available to all. Bring a pole and don't let it get away this time.
Pack 122 tries to take two family focused camping trips each year. In both the autumn and spring.
Cub Scouts in 2nd Grade or older can earn NOVA awards. This March we are offering a NOVA award program in Engineering.
In September the dens focus on citizenship themes for each rank. The Tiger Den also hosted our new scouts 1st grade or older as they earned their very first rank in a single meeting. This rank is the Bobcat.
At the monthly pack meeting the scouts built and raced rain gutter regatta boats. As a part of COVID-19 precautions the scouts fanned the boats down the track.

At our October Pack Meeting the Bear den hosted a carnival for the pack with Halloween themed games. Our Arrow of Light scouts shared information about the world scouting fund and encouraged donations. Leadership acknowledged eight scouts who earned their Bobcat Rank.
The Pack also volunteered at Christ Community Church's Trunk or Treat on October 23 from 3:00 - 5:00. We did this as a community service project centered around the Game Theme. The Pack was responsible for more than 50 volunteer hours at this event, which served hundreds of people.
In November our Pack focused on Conservation and enjoying Nature. The "Signs of Nature" pack meeting was led by the Webelos Den at Herrick Lake. We went for a nice hike, as the weather turned cold. The Scouts persevered.
Anyone is welcome to join us for our monthly Hike Club. Hike Club takes place on the 2nd Sunday at 1:30 PM. We usually hike 1 to 3 miles and the scouts earn recognition as they accumulate their overall distance. Join Us rain or Shine.
What better month is there to talk about Nutrition than December. Before New-Years resolutions take place, we will focus on fueling our bodies at our "Eat Your Heart Out" Pack meeting.
As we were preparing for our January Service project the Tri-Town YMCA asked for help moving from their temporary home next door to their more permanent home at the former St. Alexander School. The Cub Scouts helped move move almost all the things, and helped set up some of the new shelves. It was a great help.
This month our first meeting was our quarterly Service Project. Since the theme of the new year is faith we saught out a local Church in our community to serve. We volunteered to take down the decorations at New Hope Community Church and set up the sanctuary for Sunday Worship service on Saturday, Jan. 15.
Our chartered organization partners with us each year for Scout Sunday in February. We are focusing on the scout's faith in January leading up to Scout Sunday on February 13. Don't worry if you aren't a Catholic, Pack 122 is made up of scouts of many faiths. But This Pack meeting we will encourage each scout to earn their Religious emblem for their age. We will also celebrate our 5 scouts who have earned their Arrow of Light, which is the highest rank that a Cub Scout can earn. They will bridge from Cub Scouts to Scouts BSA on Monday, January 24 at the pack Bridging Ceremony.
A parent in our pack is a mechanical engineer. He uses his expertise in his job to to move fluids, and he volunteered to lead members of the pack in earning the STEM Nova Award "Up and Away" which explores fluid dynamics. As a part of that A group of 45 people, age 4 and up, when to iFLY and participated in a STEM program before going indoor skydiving.
We used that experience to inform our monthly pack meeting where we did several of the requirements for the scouts to earn a Nova Award. We tested items of similar size, but different densities as they flowed through fluids of varying viscosities. Then we learned about automobile aerodynamics, like why is a spoiler sometimes helpful, and put our knowledge to use by making Lego-wood Derby cars before the Pinewood Derby next month.
Every year we have a pinewood derby for the pack. Our March meeting is where that pinewood derby will take place. The winners from the Pack will go on to the district pinewood derby race at Stratford Square Mall on April 9. Please come cheer our pack on.
Also in March we plan to be finishing our own pack NOVA award program. A council NOVA counselor and a parent from our pack will be working together to offer this honor to Wolf Scouts (2nd Grade) and up. See the February meeting information for more details.
Health and Safety are an integral part of scouting, both for the individual and the planet. Our April pack meeting will work through health and safety ideas.
In addition to our April Pack meeting, in April as we celebrate Earth day we are also planning a conservation service project as our quarterly service project.
May is a full month this year. Our May meeting will be our annual Blue and Gold banquet which celebrates the anniversary of Cub Scouting. At that meeting we are going to acknowledge the accomplishments of the scouts including: Nova Awards, Religious Emblems, Rank Advancement, Whittling Chips and more.
During the month of May we are also doing a Messengers of Peace Service Project. We will be collecting wheelchairs from the community, working or not, and donating them to Living with Hope. More details to come about this service project.
We also have 2 campsites reserved at the Starved Rock youth campground. Troop 242 will be joining us and providing what we need to have a good night. More information will come but please remember to register in Scoutbook if you are a member of the pack and want to attend the camp out.
Our Pack went camping with the assistance of the Scoutmasters and den chiefs from Troop 199.
A professional engineer led the pack in the Up and Away Nova Award. The pack went indoor skydiving at our local iFly in Rosemont. 19 Cub Scout earned this Nova award.
Congrats to all the scouts who participated in the Pinewood Derby. Two of our winners decided to go on to the district races in April.
